We are committed like never before to completing a multi-year joint U.S.-Mexico border infrastructure modernization effort for projects along the 2,000-mile border,\u201d the leaders stated.<\/p>\n<p>The presidents committed to maintaining \u201cstrong border enforcement policies\u201d while ensuring that human rights are protected. For migrants seeking access to \u201clegal pathways,\u201d the joint statement promised to promote \u201cgreater worker protections.\u201d The two nations plan on convening a working group for a response to the issue of child migration.<\/p>\n<p>They also committed to go after the \u201cmulti-billion-dollar criminal smuggling industry\u201d which is \u201cpreying\u201d on migrants.
