Wade\" data-vars-click-url=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2022\/06\/24\/roe-wade-decision-abortion\" data-vars-content-id=\"fda842dd-f8c2-4966-85c1-6a09481bf666\" data-vars-headline=\"Justice Department establishes task force to protect abortion access\" data-vars-event-category=\"story\" data-vars-sub-category=\"story\" data-vars-item=\"in_content_link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2022\/06\/24\/roe-wade-decision-abortion\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">Supreme Court has overturned Roe v. Wade<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Why it matters: <\/strong>The Reproductive Rights Task Force, led by associate attorney general Vanita Gupta, will monitor how states continue to ban or restrict abortion and determine how the Biden administration can respond, including through legal challenges.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What they&#8217;re saying: <\/strong>&#8220;As Attorney General [Merrick] Garland has said, the Supreme Court\u2019s Dobbs decision is a devastating blow to reproductive freedom in the United States,&#8221; Gupta said in a <a class=\"gtmContentClick\" data-vars-link-text=\"statement\" data-vars-click-url=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/pr\/justice-department-announces-reproductive-rights-task-force\" data-vars-content-id=\"fda842dd-f8c2-4966-85c1-6a09481bf666\" data-vars-headline=\"Justice Department establishes task force to protect abortion access\" data-vars-event-category=\"story\" data-vars-sub-category=\"story\" data-vars-item=\"in_content_link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/pr\/justice-department-announces-reproductive-rights-task-force\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a>. <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cThe Court abandoned 50 years of precedent and took away the constitutional right to abortion, preventing women all over the country from being able to make critical decisions about our bodies, our health, and our futures.
