Currently, the tax is imposed on individuals\u2019 passive business income, including interest, dividends, annuities, and royalties. It is not imposed on wage income or nonpassive business income. It applies to taxpayers with modified adjusted gross income (MAGI) of $250,000 for married filers or $200,000 for single households,&#8221; ATR continues.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Senate Republicans are calling the proposal &#8220;Build Back Broke.&#8221; Hundreds of <a href=\"https:\/\/s-corp.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Main-Street-Employer-NIIT-Opposition-Letter-7-11-22.pdf\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">trade associations\u00a0<\/a>have signed a letter opposing the legislation.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">While inflation is at a 40-year high, Joe Biden and the Democrats are working on resurrecting their Build Back Broke plan.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Sen.
