The anonymous Ohio doctor said the 10-year-old was ineligible for an abortion in her home state and needed to go to Indiana to receive an abortion immediately. <\/p>\n<p>Even before Yost\u2019s comment, the credibility of the story was suspect. For instance, it lacked important details, such as the identity of the Ohio doctor or whether that doctor even reported what would have been the crime of rape. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe work closely with the decentralized law enforcement system in Ohio, but we have regular contact with prosecutors and local police and sheriffs,\u201d Yost said. \u201cNot a whisper anywhere.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Yost added that his office runs the state crime lab, and no request for DNA analysis from a rape kit was filed matching this story. He also said that in Ohio, the rape of a minor means life in prison and that there\u2019s not one prosecutor or police officer in the state who wouldn\u2019t be turning over \u201cevery rock in their jurisdiction if they had the slightest hint that this occurred.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In other words, either the Ohio doctor broke state law by neglecting to report the rape of a child to police, or Bernard \u2014 the abortionist and activist who told the story to The Indiana Star \u2014 fabricated the whole story to advance the left\u2019s abortion goals.<\/p>\n<p>If the latter is true, it worked. National media outlets including <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/healthcare\/3544588-10-year-old-girl-denied-abortion-in-ohio\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Hill<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/2022\/jul\/03\/ohio-indiana-abortion-rape-victim\">The Guardian<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/shes-10-child-rape-victims-abortion-denial-sparks-outrage-twitter-1721248\">Newsweek<\/a> ran with the story without verifying the claims. And even President Joe Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=G2klGjO2L1s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">cited<\/a> the alleged incident as fact during his push to federally codify <em>Roe<\/em> \u2014 or, in other words, legalize abortion for any reason in every state through all nine months of pregnancy. <\/p>\n<p>Bernard, a person who has <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MeganFoxWriter\/status\/1544475570553212928\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">not been shy<\/a> of the press, has gone radio silent when asked for comment or an interview from multiple outlets on this story.<\/p>\n<p>A viral Twitter thread from journalist <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MeganFoxWriter\/status\/1544426366837342208\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Megan Fox<\/a> went in-depth about the many red flags the story presents. Meanwhile, <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.ph\/85Mya\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Washington Post<\/a> \u201cfact-checker\u201d Glenn Kessler\u2019s takeaway was: \u201cThis is a very difficult story to check\u2026\u201d but \u201cthe story has acquired the status of a \u2018fact\u2019 no matter its provenance.
