Which White House speechwriter just won a bet for getting the First Lady to say something like this?\u201d while referring to the political comedy starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Jill Biden just said Hispanics are as \u201cunique\u201d as tacos. <\/p>\n<p>This isn\u2019t Veep. In recent months, Democrats like Congressman Ritchie Torres (D-NY)\u00a0 have blasted organizations like the New York Yankees for using the word Latinx.<\/p>\n<p>In late May, the New York Yankees sent out a series of tweets regarding gun violence. One of those tweets said, \u201cEach year, more than 4,100 Latinx people die from gun violence in the U.S. and 13,300 are shot and wounded.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Torres responded, \u201cI represent the South Bronx, home to the Yankees. Never heard anyone locally use the term \u2018Latinx.\u2019 Does a majority of Hispanics actually use the term \u2018Latinx\u2019? If the answer is \u2018no\u2019, how did \u2018Latinx\u2019 come to be the term to use in government and Corporate America?\u201d<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I represent the South Bronx, home to the Yankees. Politico <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/new-poll-shows-only-2-of-hispanics-use-term-latinx-many-find-it-offensive\">reported<\/a> in December that according to a new poll, just 2% of Hispanic American voters used the term Latinx \u2014 possibly contributing to the exodus.<\/p>\n<p>However, the Bronx Congressman has also used the term Latinx in the past. After winning his election in 2020, Torres <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ritchietorres\/status\/1329969456248971264\">tweeted<\/a>, \u201cNever for a moment did I imagine becoming the first openly\u00a0#LGBTQ\u00a0Afro-Latinx member of Congress and joining the ranks of the\u00a0@outmagazine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Regarding Monday\u2019s event, it is unclear why UnidosUS would feel the need to remove the \u201cS\u201d in the word \u201cinclusion\u201d and replace it with an \u201cX\u201d to make Hispanics feel welcomed at Biden\u2019s speech. The Spanish word for inclusion is \u201cinclusi\u00f3n.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The day before the first lady spoke at the \u201cLatinx InluXion Luncheon,\u201d UnidosUS <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unidosus.org\/conference\/\">hosted<\/a> a \u201cLatinas Luncheon,\u201d according to the conference schedule, adding to the confusion.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>First Lady Jill Biden compared members of the Hispanic community in the United States to tacos, flowers, and glorified convenience stores during a speech in San Antonio, Texas on Monday.
