Zoe Lofgren, a 2019 House impeachment manager who now serves on Speaker Nancy Pelosi\u2019s latest anti-Trump probe in the Select Committee, went on CNN Sunday to conduct damage control as the Democrats\u2019 desperate narrative ahead of the November midterms fell apart. <\/p>\n<p>Lofgren was asked about the panel\u2019s questioning of former Trump White House Counsel Pat Cipollone, who spoke with the committee in April but was asked back after explosive allegations from Hutchinson were left uncorroborated. Hutchinson told lawmakers in public testimony that Cipollone pressured the low-level White House aide to Chief of Staff Mark Meadows to keep the president from going to the Capitol on Jan. 6 or \u201cwe\u2019re going to get charged with every crime imaginable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI saw Mr. Cipollone right before I walked out onto West Exec that morning, and Mr. Cipollone said something to the effect of \u2018please make sure we don\u2019t go up to the Capitol, Cassidy. Keep in touch with me,&#8217;\u201d Hutchinson said. <\/p>\n<p>Multiple sources told The Federalist, however, that Cipollone was not at the White House on the morning of Jan. 6, 2021. Indiana Rep. Jim Banks, who is leading House Republicans\u2019 investigation of the Capitol riot after Pelosi expelled him from his minority appointment as ranking member of the Select Committee, <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/07\/01\/exclusive-jim-banks-demands-white-house-surveillance-logs-to-vet-contested-j6-testimony\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">demanded<\/a> White House visitation records to probe Hutchinson\u2019s claims. <\/p>\n<p>When pressed on whether the panel asked Cipollone to confirm Hutchinson\u2019s testimony, Lofgren said the committee was uninterested, despite the episode serving as a focal point in Hutchinson\u2019s narrative.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe never call in witnesses to corroborate other witnesses or to give their reaction to other witnesses,\u201d Lofgren <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jerrydunleavy\/status\/1546143298955378688\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">admitted<\/a> on national television to CNN\u2019s Jake Tapper.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JerryDunleavy\/status\/1546143298955378688?s=20&#038;t=2jL3ZYYaaJHtI-kpTSZagA\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"603\" height=\"823\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Dunleavy-Tweet.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-275549\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Dunleavy-Tweet.png 603w, https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Dunleavy-Tweet-220x300-1.png 220w\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<p>In other words, Lofgren conceded the committee\u2019s proceedings are a <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/06\/10\/the-j6-inquisition-is-an-obvious-soviet-style-show-trial\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Soviet-style<\/a> partisan show trial operating for the sole purpose of smearing political dissidents, with no regard for the truth.<\/p>\n<p>One day after Hutchinson appeared before lawmakers, Tapper pressed panel member Jamie Raskin, D-Md., who also served as a House impeachment manager last year, on how the committee would corroborate its newest <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/06\/30\/the-media-should-save-the-star-witness-label-for-people-who-actually-witnessed-things\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">star witness<\/a>. Among her series of unsubstantiated claims, Hutchinson shared a story on how Trump attempted to violently hijack the presidential limousine and drive himself to the Capitol. The story, however, relied entirely on supposed conversations she had with others who refuted her testimony hours after she took the stand. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe did not see it happen,\u201d Tapper told Raskin. \u201cDo you have any corroborating evidence?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, the story that she told is the evidence that I\u2019m aware of,\u201d Raskin said. \u201cAnd I\u2019ve not seen anything to contradict it.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><\/figure>\n<p>Except those who supposedly did see the episode in question <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/06\/29\/new-j6-narrative-about-trump-and-secret-service-collapses-hours-after-tuesday-hearing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a> they were prepared to testify on-record and under oath that Hutchinson\u2019s story of a president in rage assaulting Secret Service agents was a fable.<\/p>\n<p>Hutchinson\u2019s appearance is far from the first time the Jan. 6 Committee has injected fictitious narratives into a friendly media environment, whose more than two hours of testimony even became a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/interactive\/2022\/cassidy-hutchinson-jan-6-hearing-testimony-illustrated\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">comic book tale<\/a> in The Washington Post. In December, committee members deceptively manipulated text messages <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/12\/21\/jan-6-committee-cooks-up-another-misleading-text-to-demonize-gop-colleagues\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">twice<\/a>, and panel Vice Chair Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., fabricated a <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/12\/16\/j6-committee-fabricates-more-evidence-says-trump-waited-187-minutes-to-call-for-peace-it-was-actually-25\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">false timeline<\/a> of Jan. 6 to indict Trump as complicit in the chaos. In its recent hearings, the committee also <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/06\/27\/exclusive-former-white-house-staffer-confirms-jan-6-committee-lied-about-doj-attorney\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">lied<\/a> about a DOJ attorney\u2019s involvement in the president\u2019s efforts to halt the certification of the election.<\/p>\n<p>Lofgren admitted, however, that the Jan. 6 show trials aren\u2019t about uncovering truth anyway.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n<p>\n  Tristan Justice is the western correspondent for The Federalist.
