Orbiting the sun about a million miles from Earth, the telescope\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/jwst.nasa.gov\/content\/observatory\/instruments\/nirspec.html\">Near Infrared Spectrograph<\/a>, or NIRSpec, was just verified only days ago, permitting the telescope to capture rainbows of infrared light from space.<\/p>\n<p>The pictures to be displayed show \u201ccolors no human eye has seen,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/07\/10\/science\/nasa-webb-telescope-images.html?smtyp=cur&#038;smid=tw-nytimesscience\">The New York Times<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>The Webb Telescope will far outstrip the capacities of the famed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/something-weird-is-going-on-in-the-universe-nasa-says\">Hubble telescope<\/a> in its quest into space and time. \u00a0In 2018, NASA introduced a double-blind system for proposals from scientists wanting to use the Hubble; the Webb Telescope will <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/d41586-021-03538-8\">also feature<\/a> such a process for accepting applicants to use it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe all know that Webb will absolutely blow Hubble out of the water by going deeper and finding the earliest galaxies,\u201d asserted Garth Illingworth, an astrophysicist who has utilized Hubble.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat I have seen moved me as a scientist, an engineer and a human being,\u201d Pamela Melroy, former astronaut and NASA deputy administrator enthused of the photographs.<\/p>\n<p>The five cosmic objects <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/feature\/goddard\/2022\/nasa-shares-list-of-cosmic-targets-for-webb-telescope-s-first-images\">targeted<\/a> by the Webb Telescope include the Carina Nebula, roughly \u00a07,600 light years away; the WASP-96 b (spectrum), an exoplanet about half the mass of Jupiter; the Southern Ring Nebula, roughly 2,000 light years away from Earth; Stephan\u2019s Quintet in the constellation Pegasus, about 290 million light years distant, and SMACS 0723.<\/p>\n<p>The Webb Space Telescope will offer a more detailed view of space dust, which heretofore posed a problem for astronomers because telescopes could not penetrate them and see beyond. The tiniest of these space dust particles are called polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs).<\/p>\n<p>But with the use of infrared astronomy, a telescope such as the Webb Telescope \u201chas capabilities that dwarf those of previous infrared telescopes and will revolutionize astronomy,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/feature\/ames\/tiny-dust-could-yield-big-answers-under-webb-telescope-s-gaze\">claimed<\/a> Louis Allamandola, a pioneer in the field examining space dust.<\/p>\n<p>Christiaan Boersma, an astronomer at NASA\u2019s Ames Research Center, celebrated, \u201cWe\u2019ll be able to see details \u2014 better details \u2014 on smaller scales than ever before. This will reveal how PAHs form and evolve in very different astronomical environments.
