During an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/videos\/politics\/2022\/07\/10\/recession-yellen-chris-sununu-new-hampshire-tapper-sotu-vpx.cnn\/video\/playlists\/this-week-in-politics\/\">interview<\/a> Sunday, the Republican stressed a recession is, in fact, coming.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>\u201cYou cannot add $5 trillion onto America\u2019s balance sheet and just hope it goes away,\u201d he stated. \u201cThe recession is coming. The Fed, I think, has known this for a while. They have kind of ignored it. They should have been easing us into the right rates and where we need to go over a year ago.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Sununu asserted that Yellen completely misled the American people and didn\u2019t want to \u201cown the bad news.\u201d He added, the Biden administration needs to stop telling Americans a recession isn\u2019t inevitable.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>\u201cYou had a Treasury secretary who was saying, \u2018oh well, it\u2019s not inevitable.\u2019 \u200bOf course, it\u2019s inevitable,\u201d he continued. \u201cYou don\u2019t need four-years at Dartmouth economics to know that. When you add that $5 trillion, there has to be some outcome.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Notably, Sununu said low-income families and others on fixed incomes are going to suffer this coming winter with home heating costs expected to soar past record rates. He took to Twitter to note, \u201cinflation is the worst tax on the poor that bad management can bring and that\u2019s exactly what the Democrats in Washington have done.\u201d Several other Republican lawmakers have echoed these sentiments.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Joe Biden isn\u2019t spending America to prosperity, he\u2019s spending us into a recession.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Senator Michael Rulli (@michaelrulli) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/michaelrulli\/status\/1544501241287434240?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 6, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Yellen previously shifted the responsibility of dealing with inflation away from the White House by claiming the Federal Reserve is responsible for dealing with the American economy.
