The\u00a0<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/gender\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">radical gender theory<\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0sweeping the nation can have dangerous and even deadly consequences on kids.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Chloe, who at age 13 took puberty blockers and two years later had a double mastectomy, which \u201cirreversibly and painfully\u201d damaged her body, said she now is unlikely to ever be a mother and faces a heightened risk of cancer. Her testimony came during a public hearing on whether Florida should reimburse people for what advocates call \u201cgender-affirming care.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cNo child should have to experience what I have,\u201d the California teen told the rapt hearing, which included state Medicaid and Board of Medicine officials.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0\u201cMy consent was not informed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Chloe Cole is only 17, she told her detransition tale to the Surgeon General of Florida. It is stories like Chloe&#8217;s that we consider support our call for an immediate halt to the medicalization of gender identity in children and adolescents.<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/J2IjmFyjUs\">https:\/\/t.co\/J2IjmFyjUs<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Our Duty : parents challenging gender ideology (@OurDutyGrp) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/OurDutyGrp\/status\/1546263559427981313?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 10, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Last month,<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/ron-desantis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0Governor Ron DeSantis<\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0(R-FL) unveiled Rule 59F-1.050, which would bar children from undergoing sex-change treatments and stop Medicaid from funding transitions for adults.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">In a previous interview, Chloe said she became radicalized on gender theory when she was just 11 from following LGBTQ activists on Instagram.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201c\u2018I saw how trans people online got an overwhelming amount of support, and the amount of praise they were getting really spoke to me because, at the time, I didn\u2019t really have a lot of friends of my own,&#8217;\u201d she told\u00a0<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/06\/18\/detransitioned-teens-explain-why-they-regret-changing-genders\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">the New York Post<\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Chloe told her parents she was really a boy when she was 13, began going by \u201cLeo,\u201d and took testosterone. Two years later, she made what she now regards as a heartbreaking mistake.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cI was unknowingly physically cutting off my true self from my body, irreversibly and painfully,\u201d she told the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/health\/california-ex-trans-teen-backs-florida-ban-medicaid-funds-transgender-medical-interventions\">Florida gathering<\/a>.\u201d That realization, actually, was one of the biggest things that led to me realizing that this was not the path that I should have taken.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Florida Surgeon General Joseph Lapado urged Florida\u2019s Board of Medicine to stop children considering sex changes from having access to puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgeries.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cThe current standards set by numerous professional organizations appear to follow a preferred political ideology instead of the highest level of generally accepted medical science,\u201d Ladapo wrote in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/22050967-board-letter\">letter to the board.<\/a> \u201cFlorida must do more to protect children from politics-based medicine.
