Liz Cheney (R-WY) is in danger of losing the August 16 Republican primary to Trump-endorsed\u00a0Harriet Hageman, the establishment media acknowledged over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, the <em>New York Times\u2019s\u00a0<\/em><span class=\"css-1baulvz\">Kate Kelly<\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0<span class=\"css-1baulvz last-byline\">Maggie Haberman<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/07\/09\/us\/politics\/liz-cheney-jan-6.html\">wrote<\/a> a 1,418 word article that raised concerns Cheney could lose her race next month. Highlighting that Democrat donors have begun funding Cheney\u2019s reelection campaign, the <em>Times<\/em> also noted Cheney has\u00a0solicited votes from Democrats in an attempt to overcome a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/06\/09\/harriet-hageman-overwhelming-favorite-oust-liz-cheney-up-28-points\/\">large<\/a> polling <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/05\/27\/poll-liz-cheney-sinks-30-points-behind-trump-endorsed-harriet-hageman-in-wy-gop-primary\/\">gap<\/a>:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Polling suggests that she came into the summer\u00a0trailing\u00a0Harriet Hageman, her rival in the Republican primary, which will be held on Aug. 16. Last month, Ms. Cheney\u2019s campaign\u00a0sent mailers to registered Democrats\u00a0with instructions on how to change parties ahead of the primary \u2014 a move that would allow them to vote for her.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Ms. Cheney had previously said she would not take such a step, and it is unclear how successful the gambit will be in a state where the number of registered Republicans dwarfs that of Democrats.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">On Thursday, CNN\u2019s\u00a0Harry Enten warned readers \u201cLiz Cheney is in a lot of trouble in Wyoming\u201d because [a]\u00a0look at the data reveals that Cheney should be regarded as the clear underdog in her efforts to retain her seat.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cheney, who has helped Rep. Nancy Pelosi\u2019s (D-CA) partisan January 6 committee, has been in the spotlight quite a bit during televised hearings.\u00a0CNN cautioned\u00a0Chaney\u2019s\u00a0outsized press coverage should not be misunderstood as popularity in Wyoming.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe shouldn\u2019t mistake adoring press coverage and bipartisan bona fides for popularity in the place where popularity matters most for Cheney: Wyoming,\u201d the article read. \u201cIt\u2019s no wonder that the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.predictit.org\/markets\/detail\/7411\/Who-will-win-the-2022-Wyoming-At-Large-election\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">betting markets<\/a>\u00a0give her less than a 10% chance of earning another term in office.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<div id=\"attachment_21532216\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/media.breitbart.com\/media\/2022\/07\/GettyImages-1241762604.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>Former Senator Joe Lieberman speaks with Representative Liz Cheney, a Republican from Wyoming, right, ahead of a Presidential Medal of Freedom ceremony with US President Joe Biden, not pictured, in the East Room of the White House in Washington, D.C., US, on Thursday, July 7, 2022. (Al Drago\/Bloomberg via Getty Images)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"zn-body__paragraph\">While spending quite a bit of time in Washington, DC, and not on the Wyoming campaign trail, Cheney even accepted President Biden\u2019s Thursday invitation to\u00a0<a title=\"This external link will open in a new window\" href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/midterm-election\/2022\/07\/08\/liz-cheney-attends-white-house-event-ignoring-wyoming-campaign-trail\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">attend<\/a>\u00a0the televised\u00a0Medal of Freedom ceremony 1,711 miles away from Casper, Wyoming.<\/div>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\"><em>USA Today<\/em> took note of Cheney\u2019s presence at the White House event and acknowledged its unprecedented nature. \u201cIt\u2019s typically unheard of for a\u00a0Republican lawmaker in the middle of a bruising primary fight to be seen at a\u00a0high-profile White House event of a Democratic president,\u201d the article <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2022\/07\/07\/trump-critic-liz-cheney-attends-white-house-medal-freedom-ceremony\/10007629002\/\">said<\/a>. \u201cBut Cheney, vice chair of the committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol,\u00a0is\u00a0an<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>exception.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">The article also raised red flags as to Cheney\u2019s lack of support with Wyoming Republicans, while being embraced by Democrats: \u201cAs she seeks a fourth-term to represent Wyoming\u2019s sole seat in Congress, Cheney is at odds with most\u00a0of the Republican Party \u2013\u00a0and a sudden hero\u00a0to<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>many liberals \u2013 warning last week that \u201cRepublicans cannot both be\u00a0loyal to Donald Trump and loyal to the Constitution.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"css-53u6y8\">\n<p>Cheney\u2019s absence from the Cowboy State has been a large issue in the voters\u2019 minds. \u201cShe understands she has to campaign and earn the trust of voters \u2014 I would certainly like to see her here more,\u201d state Rep. Landon Brown (R) told the\u00a0<em>Times<\/em>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) has sunk 30 points behind Trump-endorsed Harriet Hageman in the Wyoming GOP primary, a Club for Growth poll found Thursday.  <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/ubGnrSySgQ\">https:\/\/t.co\/ubGnrSySgQ<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart News (@BreitbartNews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartNews\/status\/1530758514435563520?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 29, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>But Cheney has her own reasons for\u00a0staying\u00a0in Washington. \u201cI\u2019m not going to convince the crazies and I reject the crazies,\u201d Cheney\u00a0<a title=\"This external link will open in a new window\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/02\/09\/us\/politics\/liz-cheney-wyoming-republicans.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">said<\/a>\u00a0about a Republican event for Wyoming voters in February.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Hageman has pushed back on Cheney\u2019s opinion of Wyoming voters.\u00a0\u201cLiz Cheney has lost Wyoming. Liz Cheney doesn\u2019t live in Wyoming. She doesn\u2019t represent us,\u201d Hageman\u00a0<a title=\"This external link will open in a new window\" href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/01\/23\/liz-cheney-loses-wyoming-straw-poll-trump-backed-harriet-hageman\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">told<\/a>\u00a0Breitbart News. \u201cShe doesn\u2019t represent our values.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cheney has been in hot water with the GOP after opposing former President Donald Trump, voting to impeach him, and participating in\u00a0the January 6 Committee, which has sought to investigate the January 6 Capitol incident without\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/03\/10\/nyt-reporter-there-were-ton-fbi-informants-capitol-january-6\/\">focusing<\/a>\u00a0on the alleged FBI informants there.<\/p>\n<p>Cheney\u2019s conduct has drawn condemnation from the Wyoming Republican Party and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy.
