Wade.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Youngkin shared the comments during an interview on CBS News\u2019 \u201cFace the Nation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThink about it, this was a state\u2026 that just 18 months ago was talking about enabling abortion all the way up through and including birth,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd now we\u2019re able to talk about a 15-week pain threshold bill where a baby feels pain. This is a remarkable moment for us. And it\u2019s an opportunity, I\u2019m not going to let go.\u201d<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">GOP Gov. Glenn Youngkin wouldn&#8217;t say if he would ever pursue a total ban on abortion, but has proposed a 15-week ban.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I believe we can get a 15-week pain threshold bill done in Virginia for the first time\u2026It&#8217;s an opportunity I&#8217;m not going to let go.&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/yq4HR9Nh1j\">pic.twitter.com\/yq4HR9Nh1j<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Face The Nation (@FaceTheNation) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FaceTheNation\/status\/1546151065426558978?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 10, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Youngkin has called for a bipartisan group of lawmakers to help develop the state\u2019s new bill to limit abortions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis in Virginia is a debate that we are going to run to the Supreme Court\u2019s decision. I agree that this is a decision for states to make by elected officials, by the citizens of Virginia, and that\u2019s why, right out of the box, I called for a 15-week pain threshold bill to be formed and crafted by a bipartisan group of legislators,\u201d the governor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/glenn-youngkin-face-the-nation-transcript-07-10-2022\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> during the interview.<\/p>\n<p>Youngkin also referred to the opportunity as a \u201cmoment\u201d for the country to address the issue of life in the womb.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think this is what it\u2019s all about\u2026 this is a moment for our country to have a discussion around this and each state will decide something different,\u201d he added. \u201cAnd I think that\u2019s the real value of the Supreme Court\u2019s decision.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Virginia conservative also faced questions regarding his actions attempting to ban the teaching of critical race theory and other \u201cdivisive\u201d concepts in schools.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of the things we have to do is teach all of our history, but we shouldn\u2019t play privilege bingo with children,\u201d Youngkin answered.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">On his actions to try and ban the teaching of critical race theory and &#8220;divisive concepts,&#8221; GOP Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin says:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;One of the things we have to do is teach all of our history, but we shouldn&#8217;t play privilege bingo with children.&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/NrsuAocS0F\">pic.twitter.com\/NrsuAocS0F<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Face The Nation (@FaceTheNation) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FaceTheNation\/status\/1546165384654512128?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 10, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In addition to Virginia, a new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-multiple-states-ban-abortion-after-scotus-ruling\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">battle<\/a> over pro-life laws has arisen across multiple states following the June 24 decision to return abortion laws to individual states.<\/p>\n<p>A total of 13 states had previously passed trigger laws designed to take effect after <em>Roe v. Wade <\/em>was overturned. States with existing trigger bans laws include Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Texas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Kentucky.<\/p>\n<p>Five states, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, Ohio, and Iowa, have also passed laws limiting abortion that were previously shot down in court and could go into effect.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, at least <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/roe-decision-could-put-old-abortion-bans-back-on-the-books-in-these-states\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">five states<\/a> that banned abortion before 1973 are now facing uncertainty regarding abortion in their states, including Michigan and Wisconsin.<\/p>\n<p>Some states have already turned attention to abortion pills. Mississippi Republican Governor Tate Reeves <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/mississippi-governor-says-doctors-in-his-state-will-lose-their-medical-license-for-prescribing-abortion-pills\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> last week that doctors in his state will lose their medical license for prescribing abortion pills. Ahead of the Supreme Court\u2019s ruling, Governor John Bel Edwards (D-LA) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/louisiana-governor-signs-bill-outlawing-the-mailing-of-abortion-pills\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">signed<\/a> a bill into law that will make mailing abortion pills a crime in his state.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin (R) said on Sunday that he plans to support a 15-week abortion ban in his state following the Supreme Court\u2019s recent decision that overturned Roe v.
