The order pledges to ensure the safety of abortion providers, including mobile clinics that are usually deployed near the borders of states where abortion is restricted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome of the states don\u2019t allow for exceptions for rape or incest,\u201d Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/speeches-remarks\/2022\/07\/08\/remarks-by-president-biden-on-protecting-access-to-reproductive-health-care-services\/\">said<\/a>. \u201cJust last week, it was reported that a 10-year-old girl was a rape victim in Ohio\u201410 years old\u2014and she was forced to have to travel out of the state, to Indiana, to seek to terminate the [pregnancy] and maybe save her life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cImagine being that little girl,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019m serious, just imagine being that little girl. Ten years old!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The report the president referenced was published July 1 by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.indystar.com\/story\/news\/health\/2022\/07\/01\/indiana-abortion-law-roe-v-wade-overturned-travel\/7779936001\/\">Indianapolis Star<\/a>, which cited Dr. Caitlan Bernard, an Indianapolis-based obstetrician-gynecologist, as the single source.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to the Star, Bernard said a \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-child-abuse\">child abuse<\/a> doctor\u201d in Ohio contacted her after finding that the young patient was six weeks and three days pregnant\u2014three days late for a legal abortion under a recently revived Ohio law, which prohibits abortion after six weeks of pregnancy.<\/p>\n<p>Glenn Kessler, a fact-checker for The Washington Post, found the story dubious.
