Conventional wisdom is that they were regrouping their forces and replacing units that had been decimated in the fighting.\u00a0<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p><span>Meanwhile, Russian President <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/putin-tells-western-nations-that-he-just-getting-started-ukraine-1722716?utm_source=PushnamiMailing&#038;utm_medium=email&#038;utm_campaign=automatic&#038;UTM=1657234880719&#038;subscriberId=613b6e527aeb51cecb575aa9\"><span>Vladimir Putin <\/span><\/a><span>stated earlier this week, that Russia hasn\u2019t even started yet in Ukraine. \u201cNothing has been seriously started yet,\u201d Putin said to Pravda.\u00a0<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cToday we hear that they (West) want to defeat us on the battlefield. Well, what can you say. Let them try,\u201d he added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The Russian Defense Ministry was quoted by the government-run news agency TASS as stating, \u201cThe units that performed combat missions \u2026 are taking measures to recover their combat capabilities. The servicemen are given the opportunity to rest, receive letters and parcels from home.\u201d<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p><span>However, there seems to be evidence to the contrary. The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/time.com\/6194371\/russia-operational-pause-ukraine\/\"><span>Institute for the Study of War,<\/span><\/a><span> a Washington think tank says that while there may possibly be a pause, it doesn\u2019t mean \u201cthe complete cessation of active hostilities.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cRussian forces will likely confine themselves to relatively small-scale offensive actions as they attempt to set conditions for more significant offensive operations and rebuild the combat power needed to attempt those more ambitious undertakings,\u201d the institute said.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p><b>Russians Still \u201cRaising Hell\u201d Across the Country:<\/b>\n<\/p>\n<p><span>The Ukrainian regional governor of Luhansk, Serhyi Haidai, who has been quite active on social media, said that Russian forces are still continuing to \u201craise true hell\u201d in eastern Ukraine.\u00a0<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p><span>He said that the Russians are pushing troops up to the areas close to the Donetsk border and conducted <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/International\/wireStory\/russia-continues-raise-true-hell-ukraine-governor-86512717\"><span>20 mortar, artillery, and missile<\/span><\/a><span> strikes in the Donetsk province overnight.\u00a0<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cWe are trying to contain the Russians\u2019 armed formations along the entire front line,\u201d Haidai wrote on his Telegram channel app. He added in a later post that \u201cso far, there has been no operational pause announced by the enemy. He is still attacking and shelling our lands with the same intensity as before.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p><span>Russian forces shelled cities and towns in seven different provinces on Thursday evening according to the Ukrainian presidential office. In Donetsk, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2022\/7\/7\/russia-taking-operational-pause-in-ukraine-analysts-say\"><span>10 cities and villages<\/span><\/a><span> came under shelling, destroying 35 buildings were destroyed, including a school, a vocational college, and a hospital, officials said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Haidai claimed that the shelling in Luhansk was curtailed because Ukrainian forces hit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.19fortyfive.com\/2022\/06\/putins-next-ukraine-disaster-the-russian-army-is-running-out-of-ammo\/\">Russian ammunition depots<\/a> with artillery strikes of their own.\u00a0<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p><span>Slovyansk <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/ukraine-braces-for-russian-assault-on-city-where-it-defeated-2014-revolt-11657367079\"><span>Mayor Vadim Lyakh<\/span><\/a><span> said on Friday that the expected renewed Russian offensive is expected to take place in Slovyansk and neighboring Kramatorsk. He added that Russian forces are creeping toward Slovyansk and the indiscriminate shelling has killed 18 people in the past two weeks.\u00a0<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p><strong>Deputy Prime Minister Urges Ukrainians To Evacuate:<\/strong>\n<\/p>\n<p><span>In the face of further bloody fighting in the southern areas of Ukraine, Deputy PM Iryna Vereshchuk urged<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ukrinform.net\/rubric-society\/3525055-iron-curtain-shutting-in-russia-ukrainians-should-leave-asap-vereshchuk.html\"><span> citizens to evacuate<\/span><\/a><span>, fearing that Russian soldiers would use them as human shields in the upcoming fighting.\u00a0<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cYou need to search for a way to leave because our armed forces are coming to de-occupy,\u201d she said. \u201cThere will be a massive fight. I don\u2019t want to scare anyone. Everyone understands all of this anyway.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>She said there were fears that the Russian would force civilians to move inside Russian territory and wanted civilians to evacuate toward the European Union before it was too late.\u00a0<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI urge such people to make a decision in favor of Ukraine, and also at least to leave toward the territory of the European Union. There is already an \u2018iron curtain\u2019 over Russia, only cracks and narrow channels remain, which will allow Ukrainians and Ukrainian citizens to leave to the territory of the EU.
