He said Americans must rise up to win back their constitutional rights.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe whole idea of the American Constitution was to really limit the spending and the power of the federal government,\u201d Moore told NTD\u2019s \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ntd.com\/fresh-look-america\">Fresh Look America<\/a>\u201d program in an interview aired on July 4.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSomehow [there\u2019s] the idea that making government bigger is going to solve our problems. No, it\u2019s making us less free, it\u2019s making us poor, and it\u2019s eroding the very freedoms that made America a special place,\u201d said Moore.<\/p>\n<p>The federal government was very small during its early days, and it only took 20 horses and buggies to move the government belongings from Philadelphia to the new capital, Washington, said Moore.\u00a0The federal government officially moved to Washington in 1800.<\/p>\n<p>Moore said the government expanded by increasing its spending, such as in the years after the 2008 crisis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen the 2008 crisis hit, we made a lot of mistakes,\u201d said Moore. \u201cWe started bailing out firms. We should have just suspended the income tax for a year. It would have been cheaper than all the bailouts. And that would have really inspired people to go out and work and start new businesses or recapitalize the country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Moore said the Obama administration spent about $1 trillion on his stimulus programs, and now \u201cwe want to spend 3, 4, or $5 trillion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Moore recalled that when he came to Washington in 1984, the national debt was a little over $1 trillion. Now it\u2019s over $30 trillion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo you just have this massive growth of government,\u201d said Moore. \u201cWashington is just sucking power from the rest of the country.
