Wade<\/em><\/a> last month and return abortion legislation to the states.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Biden made the comments at the signing ceremony of an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2022\/07\/08\/fact-sheet-president-biden-to-sign-executive-order-protecting-access-to-reproductive-health-care-services\/\">executive order<\/a> to protect \u201caccess to reproductive health care services, including abortion and contraception.\u201d He was joined by Vice President Kamala Harris and Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The president repeatedly took shots at the court, claiming the decision in <em>Dobbs v. Jackson Women\u2019s Health Organization <\/em>was not \u201cdriven by the Constitution.\u201d He also said that two more pro-abortion senators needed to be elected in order to codify <em>Roe<\/em>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Biden\u2019s comments stand in contrast to what Justice Samuel Alito <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/united-states-supreme-court-overturns-roe-v-wade-leaves-abortion-restrictions-to-states\">wrote<\/a> in the <em>Dobbs<\/em> majority decision, where he said <em>Roe<\/em> was unconstitutional from the beginning.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Roe<\/em> was egregiously wrong from the start. Its reasoning was exceptionally weak, and the decision has had damaging consequences. And far from bringing about a national settlement of the abortion issue, <em>Roe<\/em> and <em>Casey<\/em> have enflamed debate and deepened division,\u201d Alito wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Part of Biden\u2019s executive order will involve creating a task force to work on abortion policy.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe President has directed HHS and the White House Gender Policy Council to establish and lead an interagency Task Force on Reproductive Health Care Access, responsible for coordinating Federal interagency policymaking and program development,\u201d a fact sheet from the White House says.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>During his speech, Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/sahilkapur\/status\/1545439639363883009\">said<\/a> that the Supreme Court was \u201cout-of-control.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe cannot allow an out-of-control Supreme Court, working in conjunction with extremist elements of the Republican Party, to take away freedoms,\u201d Biden said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Biden also took aim at \u201cextreme\u201d Republican governors who he claimed had used the court\u2019s decision \u201cto impose some of the harshest and most restrictive laws seen in this country in a long time.\u201d He said the laws supported by pro-life governors \u201cwill cost lives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The pro-life laws in question have exceptions to save the life of the mother. In addition, many states <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/americas-foreign-allies-some-with-stricter-abortion-laws-than-u-s-lament-supreme-court-abortion-decision\">throughout<\/a> the U.S., including New York and California, have more liberal abortion laws than many countries around the world, including in Europe.<\/p>\n<p>Biden\u2019s comments come just <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/alleged-would-be-kavanaugh-assassin-indicted-for-attempted-murder-of-a-justice\">weeks<\/a> after a man claiming he was going to kill Justice Brett Kavanaugh was arrested and charged with attempted murder.<\/p>\n<p>A Department of Justice\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/s3.documentcloud.org\/documents\/22056069\/roskenicholas.pdf\">affidavit details<\/a>\u00a0how 26-year-old Nicholas Roske allegedly traveled to Kavanaugh\u2019s home armed with weapons and burglary tools with the intent to kill the justice and prevent him from ruling on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/second-amendment\">Second Amendment<\/a>\u00a0and abortion cases.<\/p>\n<p>The White House\u2019s fact sheet also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2022\/07\/08\/fact-sheet-president-biden-to-sign-executive-order-protecting-access-to-reproductive-health-care-services\/\">details<\/a> that federal workers will receive \u201cpaid sick leave can be taken to cover absences for travel to obtain reproductive health care.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Department of Defense also reiterated its commitment to \u201creproductive healthcare\u201d in a memo sent out by the department.
