Version: 4.0.47--><div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/633px-Ballot_Drop_Box.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\" alt=\"image\" \/><\/div>\n<p>The Wisconsin Supreme Court issued a ruling on Friday that deems unmanned absentee ballot drop boxes illegal under Wisconsin election law. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAn absentee ballot must be returned by mail or the voter must personally deliver it to the municipal clerk at the clerk\u2019s office or a designated alternate site,\u201d the high court said in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wicourts.gov\/sc\/opinion\/DisplayDocument.pdf?content=pdf&#038;seqNo=542617\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">4-3 decision<\/a>. \u201cThe record evidence [the Wisconsin Elections Commission] cited does not support its argument that ballot drop boxes have been in common and longstanding use in this state.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Friday ruling from Wisconsin\u2019s highest court came as a result of a lawsuit filed in May by the Thomas More Society on behalf of state voters, who took legal action against the cities of Green Bay, Kenosha, Madison, Milwaukee, and\u00a0Racine for their illegal use of unmanned drop boxes during the 2020 election cycle. <\/p>\n<p>As The Federalist <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/05\/27\/wisconsin-voters-sue-democrat-cities-over-illegal-drop-boxes-in-2020-election\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">previously reported<\/a>, the lawsuits came \u201cafter the Wisconsin Elections Commission refused\u00a0\u2026\u00a0to launch investigations into the five cities for their use of unmanned drop boxes, despite a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/01\/17\/wisconsin-judge-bans-ballot-drop-boxes-says-election-officials-broke-the-law\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">January ruling<\/a>\u00a0from a Waukesha County Circuit Court judge saying that such drop boxes and ballot harvesting \u2018violate state law and cannot be used in the upcoming midterm elections.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis decision reveals just the tip of the iceberg of Wisconsin\u2019s election integrity problems,\u201d said Thomas More Society Special Counsel Erick Kaardal in a <a href=\"https:\/\/thomasmoresociety.org\/wisconsin-supreme-court-decision-banning-absentee-ballot-drop-boxes-is-tip-of-the-iceberg\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">statement<\/a>. \u201cAnd the worst of it [i]s that it was all coordinated with the blessing of the Wisconsin Elections Commission.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Beyond the court ruling, Thomas More Society attorneys also <a href=\"https:\/\/thomasmoresociety.org\/wisconsin-supreme-court-decision-banning-absentee-ballot-drop-boxes-is-tip-of-the-iceberg\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">charge<\/a> \u201cthat an illegal agreement existed between the Center for Tech and Civic Life [CTCL] and Wisconsin\u2019s five largest cities to pay for and use the legally unauthorized absentee ballot drop boxes in the November 2020 election.\u201d A nonprofit organization funded by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, CTCL played an instrumental role in altering state and local election processes in the lead-up to the 2020 election, with Zuckerberg and his wife donating upwards of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.techandciviclife.org\/100m\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">$400 million<\/a> to the group.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/10\/12\/the-2020-election-wasnt-stolen-it-was-bought-by-mark-zuckerberg\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Analyses<\/a> on the use of \u201cZuckbucks\u201d in 2020 have found that CTCL\u2019s funding was heavily skewed towards states\u2019 Democratic regions, making it effectively a partisan get-out-the-vote operation for the left. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/capitalresearch.org\/article\/shining-a-light-on-zuck-bucks-in-key-states\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">figures<\/a> from the Capital Research Center, for instance, Wisconsin received approximately $10.1 million during the 2020 election cycle, with \u201c9 of CTCL\u2019s 10 largest per capita grants\u201d going to cities won by Joe Biden.  <\/p>\n<p>As <a href=\"https:\/\/thomasmoresociety.org\/wisconsin-supreme-court-decision-banning-absentee-ballot-drop-boxes-is-tip-of-the-iceberg\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">noted<\/a> by the Thomas More Society, \u201cUnder the Center for Tech and Civic Life\u2019s \u2018Wisconsin Safe Voting Plan\u2019 dated June 15, 2020, the Zuckerberg funded organization transferred $216,500 for absentee ballot drop boxes to be used in the five cities,\u201d with the \u201cagreement signed by the center and the mayors of Milwaukee, Madison, Green Bay, Racine, and Kenosha, clearly stat[ing] the intentions to purchase the legally unauthorized unmanned drop boxes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cObviously, the Center for Tech and Civic Life, the Wisconsin Elections Commission, and the Wisconsin 5 mayors were in cahoots to purchase and use the illegal drop boxes in the November 2020 election,\u201d added Kaardal. \u201cNow, all the Wisconsin state courts need to do to clean up Wisconsin elections is to follow the money associated with the privately financed legally unauthorized drop boxes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As of June 2022, <a href=\"https:\/\/thomasmoresociety.org\/wisconsin-supreme-court-decision-banning-absentee-ballot-drop-boxes-is-tip-of-the-iceberg\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">more than 20 states<\/a> have passed laws to ban or restrict public officials\u2019 use of private funds when conducting elections.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n<p>\n  Shawn Fleetwood is an intern at The Federalist and a graduate of the University of Mary Washington.
