The ruling also stated absentee drop boxes were not enacted by the legislative branch but instead were a creation of executive branch officials and are outside Wisconsin voting laws.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnly the legislature may permit absentee voting via ballot drop boxes. WEC cannot. Ballot drop boxes appear nowhere in the detailed statutory system for absentee voting,\u201d wrote Bradley.<\/p>\n<p>The Wisconsin Supreme Court upheld the Circuit Court\u2019s January ruling that absentee ballots can only be turned in through the mail or in person at an election office, the Wisconsin State Journal <a href=\"https:\/\/madison.com\/news\/local\/govt-and-politics\/split-state-supreme-court-rules-drop-boxes-are-illegal-voters-must-mail-or-hand-deliver\/article_5272cf95-873f-5d21-b5f6-955f0dfb5922.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/07\/07\/wisconsin-supreme-court-sex-offender-transgender\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED:\u00a0Wisconsin Supreme Court: No, You Can\u2019t Use A Transgender Name Change To Duck Sex Offender Registry)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAn absentee ballot must be returned by mail or the voter must personally deliver it to the municipal clerk at the clerk\u2019s office or a designated alternate site,\u201d the court stated.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">\ud83d\udea8BREAKING: Wisconsin Supreme Court rules that ballot drop boxes are NOT authorized under the state\u2019s current election laws and prohibits their use.
