Officers had been called to the scene over accusations that Floyd had used counterfeit money.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section data-v-f313b7e6=\"\"><\/section>\n<section data-v-f313b7e6=\"\">\n<p>Derek Chauvin was <a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/breaking-chauvin-verdict-george-floyd\">found guilty<\/a> of three criminal charges on April 20, 2021: second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter. At the time, he was <a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/breaking-derek-chauvin-sentenced\">sentenced<\/a> to 22 and a half years.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section data-v-f313b7e6=\"\">\n<p>Thursday&#8217;s sentence will run concurrent with his state convictions, with Chauvin looking at a life sentence if hadn&#8217;t accepted the federal plea agreement on the civil rights charges, according to Fox News.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section data-v-f313b7e6=\"\">\n<p>When Chauvin entered his plea on the federal civil rights charges, he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/derek-chauvin-sentenced-21-years-federal-prison-violating-george-floyds-civil-rights\">admitted<\/a> that kept his knee on Floyd&#8217;s neck, which resulted in the man&#8217;s death. <\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section data-v-f313b7e6=\"\">\n<p>Chauvin admitted he &#8220;willfully deprived Floyd of his right to be free from unreasonable seizure, including unreasonable force by a police officer.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section data-v-f313b7e6=\"\">\n<p>The death of George Floyd resulted in the Black Lives Matter <a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/nfl-coach-fined-100-000-for-comparing-jan-6-to-blm-riots\">riots of 2020<\/a> which caused upwards of 30 deaths, multiple injuries, and over 1 billion dollars in damage nationwide.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section data-v-f313b7e6=\"\">\n<p>The Minneapolis BLM chapter <a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/we-are-never-going-to-be-satisfied-blm-responds-to-chauvin-verdict\">said<\/a> &#8220;we are never going to be satisfied&#8221; following the Chauvin verdict in 2021.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section data-v-f313b7e6=\"\">\n<p>Three of Chauvin&#8217;s fellow officers who were present that day, Tou Thao, J.
