Liberal advocacy groups funded by top Democratic Party donors have pushed school districts across the country to teach gender identity and transgenderism to elementary students, the <em>Free Beacon<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/culture\/meet-the-cdc-backed-groups-that-want-to-teach-trans-ideology-to-kindergartners\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/culture\/meet-the-cdc-backed-groups-that-want-to-teach-trans-ideology-to-kindergartners\/&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1657292475747000&#038;usg=AOvVaw0WLQFqVL7toLWPub4336NZ\">reported<\/a> last year. A group of Nebraska <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/latest-news\/meet-the-nebraska-parents-who-exposed-sex-ed-activists\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/latest-news\/meet-the-nebraska-parents-who-exposed-sex-ed-activists\/&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1657292475747000&#038;usg=AOvVaw0QBRrWFNBDHyQpys4UZmKJ\">parents<\/a> last year <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/campus\/nebraska-education-planned-parenthood-sex-education\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/campus\/nebraska-education-planned-parenthood-sex-education\/&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1657292475747000&#038;usg=AOvVaw1KIjUhcVZn53-7e5Ocj2rT\">discovered<\/a> through public information requests that their children&#8217;s sex education curriculum was secretly reviewed by a Planned Parenthood activist and <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/campus\/nebraska-department-of-education-excluded-religious-groups-from-sex-ed-curriculum-team\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/campus\/nebraska-department-of-education-excluded-religious-groups-from-sex-ed-curriculum-team\/&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1657292475747000&#038;usg=AOvVaw16PAolDla-Fq-B6D1EylZ-\">excluded<\/a> religious groups, the <em>Free Beacon<\/em> reported.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The state&#8217;s transgender lesson was a part of an online module, Maine Opportunities for Online Sustained Education (MOOSE), which the Maine Department of Education established in 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic as students transitioned to remote learning. The module, which the state <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wmtw.com\/article\/maine-republicans-increase-spending-on-attack-ad-over-lgbtq-educational-video\/40083771#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.wmtw.com\/article\/maine-republicans-increase-spending-on-attack-ad-over-lgbtq-educational-video\/40083771%23&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1657292475747000&#038;usg=AOvVaw1XJlmWHVe8MVkbXQJNV2dy\">spent<\/a> $2.8 million to develop, contains optional online lesson plans that are written by teachers for students. Biden&#8217;s American Rescue Plan, which Congress passed in March 2021, funneled additional <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maine.gov\/governor\/mills\/news\/us-department-education-approves-maines-plan-use-american-rescue-plan-funds-support-k-12\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.maine.gov\/governor\/mills\/news\/us-department-education-approves-maines-plan-use-american-rescue-plan-funds-support-k-12&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1657292475747000&#038;usg=AOvVaw0yzwrVvYnVIKrvYWUKOk7T\">funds<\/a>\u00a0to the MOOSE program.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The Maine Education Department removed the LGBT lesson and placed it under review, Deveaux said in the internal email to employees, due to &#8220;one inartful sentence in which the teacher is explaining what LGBT stands for.&#8221; The department faced public pushback after the lesson plan was the subject of a Maine GOP ad launched in opposition to Democratic governor Janet Mills, who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pressherald.com\/2022\/06\/06\/democrats-tout-gov-mills-record-on-lgbtq-rights\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/12ft.io\/proxy?q%3Dhttps%253A%252F%252Fwww.pressherald.com%252F2022%252F06%252F06%252Fdemocrats-tout-gov-mills-record-on-lgbtq-rights%252F&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1657292475747000&#038;usg=AOvVaw0PY0qnFuv4G44n-1oImoYu\">campaigned<\/a> on her pro-LGBT record in a tight race for reelection this year. Clips of the lesson also went viral on Twitter.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">&#8220;Some people, when they get a little bit older, realize what the doctors said was not right,&#8221; Maine kindergarten teacher Kailina Mills, who is not related to the governor, said in one now-deleted <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/OxlupC7LAZg?t=80\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v%3DOxlupC7LAZg%26t%3D2s&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1657292475747000&#038;usg=AOvVaw3Zu4xI3Yv-9_OwUvBm_4kT\">video<\/a> lesson. &#8220;They might say the doctors told me I&#8217;m a man, but I&#8217;m really a woman.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">In another section, transgender activist Jazz Jennings <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/BF5D2lsPfsU?t=55\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v%3DBF5D2lsPfsU&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1657292475747000&#038;usg=AOvVaw1qfNmq5FSV489S0vTZNwRm\">read<\/a> from her children&#8217;s book, <em>I Am Jazz<\/em>, which details how she transitioned from male to female starting at five years old.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">&#8220;I have a girl brain, but a boy body,&#8221; Jennings read. &#8220;This is called transgender. I was born this way.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Shawn McBreairty, a Maine father of twin daughters who has campaigned against critical race theory and sexualized lesson plans in public schools, said the Maine Department of Education is pushing radical gender ideology on young students.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">&#8220;We shouldn&#8217;t be spending taxpayer dollars to indoctrinate kids through the hypersexualization of minors,&#8221; McBreairty told the <em>Free Beacon<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The Maine Department of Education did not respond to a request for comment about the internal emails. Deveaux, the associate commissioner who sent the emails, left the Maine Department of Education this month. The department did not respond to questions on whether Deveaux was fired.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The department designed the lesson plan to teach kindergartners that people &#8220;want to be free to love whoever they want\u2014whether that&#8217;s men, women, non-binary people, transgender people, or anyone else they choose.&#8221; Among other activities, kindergarten students were instructed to advocate for LGBT causes through artwork.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">&#8220;Even though some people refuse to let LGBT+ people love freely, LGBT+ activists have used their voices, their art, and their bodies to fight for their freedom,&#8221; the lesson stated. &#8220;Today, you\u2019re going to do the same thing. You are going to write and\/or make art to show what love means to you. For people in the LGBT+ community, love means freedom. What does it mean to you?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The lesson linked to two videos that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=UDJIbkSW08U\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v%3DUDJIbkSW08U&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1657292475748000&#038;usg=AOvVaw1fI5tVK14G92svquLtPjdD\">promote<\/a> pride parades as a &#8220;party&#8221; and &#8220;celebration,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=d4vHegf3WPU\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v%3Dd4vHegf3WPU&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1657292475748000&#038;usg=AOvVaw1aAVgX0lvltYWmxm6FbMAq\">including<\/a> the Blues Clues Pride Parade episode that shows a cartoon drag queen singing about animal families with gay, nonbinary, transgender, asexual, bisexual, and pansexual members. Students were then told to design their own pride parade float.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The lesson recommended LGBT-themed literature for young readers, including <em>My Princess Boy<\/em>, a story of a boy who likes to wear princess dresses, and <em>Pride Puppy<\/em>, which follows a &#8220;protagonist of ambiguous gender&#8221; through a Pride parade. Another recommendation, <em>Who Are You?
