On Thursday afternoon, the press secretary referenced the unemployment rate and job growth in recent months, claiming those numbers prove the U.S. economy is strong, even as inflation and gas prices have hit record highs under President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/joe-biden\">Joe Biden\u2019s<\/a> watch.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen we look at where we are economically \u2014 and we are stronger economically than we have been in history,\u201d Jean-Pierre said. \u201cWhen you look at the unemployment numbers at 3.6%, when you look at the jobs numbers, more than 8.7 million of new jobs created, that is important.\u201d<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">WOW: Karine Jean-Pierre actually just said, &#8220;We are stronger economically than we have been in history.&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/xbAcYpYfk2\">pic.twitter.com\/xbAcYpYfk2<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 John Cooper (@thejcoop) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/thejcoop\/status\/1545140752535228417?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 7, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In early June, Jean-Pierre made the same claim to reporters when she attempted to explain that the economic state of the U.S. puts it in a \u201cgood position\u201d to address inflation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat I\u2019m trying to say to you is that the economy is in a better place than it has been historically. And so we feel here at this administration, and other experts as well, is that we feel that we are in a good position to take on inflation,\u201d Jean-Pierre commented.<\/p>\n[embedded content]\n<p>The repeated affirmations from the Biden administration on the \u201cstrength\u201d of the American economy have done little to quell the frustrations of the American people as inflation rips into their wallets and savings accounts.<\/p>\n<p>The Daily Wire <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/americans-dip-into-savings-as-inflation-soars\">reported<\/a> Tuesday that Americans continue to save at dismally <a href=\"http:\/\/dailywire.com\/topic\/recession\">low<\/a> levels as <a href=\"http:\/\/dailywire.com\/topic\/inflation\">inflationary<\/a> pressures hit their wallets. The personal saving rate \u2014 the portion of disposable income Americans devote to savings \u2014 was 5.4% as of May, according to a report from the U.S. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bea.gov\/news\/2022\/personal-income-and-outlays-may-2022\">Bureau of Economic Analysis<\/a>. Remaining <a href=\"https:\/\/fred.stlouisfed.org\/series\/PSAVERT\">below<\/a> 6% for every month of 2022, the measure is far from the 7% to 9% seen over the previous decade.<\/p>\n<p>Not only has inflation taken a toll on Americans\u2019 savings accounts, but now more than 150 million Americans are having trouble saving at all and are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/soaring-inflation-has-made-living-paycheck-to-paycheck-the-main-financial-lifestyle-in-america\">living paycheck to paycheck<\/a>, according to a June poll from LendingClub and PYMNTS.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/PYMNTS-New-Reality-Check-June-2022.pdf\">survey<\/a> of more than 4,000 Americans showed that \u201cconsumers in all income brackets \u2014 including those who make more than $100,000 annually\u201d \u2014 are devoting nearly all of their salaries to paying their expenses, with little to nothing left over for savings.<\/p>\n<p>Biden has continued to deflect the blame for rising inflation and prices to corporate price gouging and Russia\u2019s invasion of Ukraine.
