With the intention to build, assist, and provide resources for the growth of the community, we encourage BIPOC attendees to visit the space,\u201d the Gen Con Instagram description <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/Cfo4gTApn0w\/\">said<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis space was created to follow through on our goals of spotlighting underrepresented voices, supplementing convention experiences, and supporting new opportunities for those seeking to enter or move further into the tabletop industry. Gen Con is committed to maintaining this goal and will ensure this space is used for this purpose throughout the show.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Comments were disabled on the Instagram post, but reactions on Twitter were brutal, especially after the popular account Libs of TikTok <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/libsoftiktok\/status\/1545069629210591233\">shared<\/a> a screenshot of the post announcing the BIPOC Lounge.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo inclusive,\u201d the account for The Daily Wire\u2019s \u201cCandace\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/thecandaceshow\/status\/1545073100504670213\">wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re so progressive that they\u2019re actually regressive,\u201d another Twitter user <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PrimeSC30\/status\/1545070523373199361\">shared<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While the BIPOC lounge at Gen Con is optional, leftists have been accused in the past of advocating for segregation in certain settings, mainly schools. Last September, Texas Tech University canceled a so-called anti-racism seminar that segregated students by race, The Daily Wire <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/university-cancels-anti-racism-seminar-that-segregated-students-by-race\">reported<\/a> at the time.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUpon reviewing materials from the \u2018Deeply Rooted Conversations\u2019 discussion series, we learned that some of the content does not align with our university values, and we have discontinued this program,\u201d Texas Tech spokesman Matt Dewey told The Daily Caller News Foundation. This was after Young America\u2019s Foundation revealed the segregation through a Freedom of Information Act request.<\/p>\n<p>The groups for the event were divided up as \u201cBIPOC affinity space\u201d and \u201cAlly affinity space\u201d before the seminar got canceled.<\/p>\n<p>In August, black parents in Atlanta became furious upon learning that their elementary school children were being <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/black-parents-outraged-after-learning-atlanta-elementary-school-segregated-classes-by-race\">segregated by race<\/a> in their classrooms.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[The principal] said, \u2018That\u2019s not one of the black classes.\u2019 And I immediately said, \u2018What does that mean?\u2019 I was confused,\u201d mother Kila Posey told the local news outlet. \u201cI asked for more clarification. I was like, \u2018We have those in this school?\u2019 And she proceeded to say, \u2018Yes, I have decided that I\u2019m going to place all of the black students in two classes.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve lost sleep trying to figure out, like, why would a person do this? First, it was just disbelief that I was having this conversation in 2020 with a person that looks just like me, a black woman,\u201d Posey continued. \u201cIt\u2019s segregating classrooms. You cannot segregate classrooms.
