The detonation damaged a large portion of the structure the point that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/stillgray\/status\/1544810411811553280\">construction crews<\/a> had no choice but to finish the job.<\/p>\n<p>Georgia Bureau of Investigation <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GBI_GA\/status\/1544712938476421122?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1544712938476421122%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&#038;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.usatoday.com%2Fstory%2Fnews%2Fnation%2F2022%2F07%2F06%2Fgeorgia-guidestones-explosion-police-say-monument-damaged-bombing%2F7823958001%2F\">said<\/a> preliminary information indicates that unknown individuals detonated an explosive device at around 4 a.m. on Wednesday. Elbert County Sheriff\u2019s Office authorities were the first on the scene to discover the explosion significantly damaged one of the four stones.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As of Wednesday afternoon, the cause of the explosion remains under investigation, and authorities have not arrested or identified any suspects.<\/p>\n<p>The monument\u2019s beginnings were as big a mystery as its demise.<\/p>\n<p>In 1980, a man using the pseudonym Robert C. Christian constructed \u201cAmerica\u2019s Stonehenge\u201d to function as a compass, calendar, and clock. Yet the origins and its purpose remain a puzzle, as no one knows the true identity of the man or group who sponsored the Guidestones.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Aside from the Guidestone\u2019s first message, which more or less promoted a global depopulation agenda, the other nine \u201cinstructions\u201d were universal self-help recommendations.<\/p>\n<p>The stones encouraged humanity to guide reproduction wisely through improving fitness and diversity, bring humanity together using a living new language, and rule with passion, faith, tradition, and reason. Other guidelines called for protecting people and nations with fair laws and just courts while letting all countries rule internally and resolve external disputes in a world court.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAvoid petty laws and useless officials,\u201d one guideline read.<\/p>\n<p>Another stone\u2019s inscription called for balancing personal rights with social duties, followed by a rule to prize truth, beauty, and love by seeking harmony with the infinite.<\/p>\n<p>And finally, it said, \u201cBe not a cancer on the Earth \u2014 Leave room for nature \u2014 Leave room for nature.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Each stone translated the guidelines into eight modern languages: English, Spanish, Swahili, Hindi, Hebrew, Arabic, Chinese, and Russian.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And inscribed on the sides near the top, the exhibit had the names of four ancient languages \u2014 Babylonian cuneiform, Classical Greek, Sanskrit, and Egyptian Hieroglyphics.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In the aftermath of the explosion, the Internet teemed with theories about who or what caused Guidestones to be reduced to rubble.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year, during Georgia\u2019s gubernatorial primary, Republican candidate Kandiss Taylor brought attention to the Guidestones, claiming the stones were part of a \u201cLuciferian cabal\u201d and promising to destroy the monument if elected.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Taylor weighed in on Twitter following the explosion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGod is God all by Himself,\u201d Taylor <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KandissTaylor\/status\/1544691940083507204\">said<\/a>. \u201cHe can do ANYTHING He wants to do.
