Democrats had been positive about how things were going, but now 78% say the country is headed in the wrong direction.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The report specified that 92% of Republicans say that the country is headed in the wrong direction, and 85% of independents agreed.<\/p>\n<p>The poll, which comes as Biden\u2019s approval rating sank to a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RealSaavedra\/status\/1543869569982349312\">historic-low<\/a>\u00a030% in a separate survey this week, follows decades-high inflation rates, record gas prices, seemingly never-ending crises, and an economy that is poorly rated across the board.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSeventy-nine percent of adults consider the national economy to be in poor condition,\u201d the report added. \u201cThe increasingly negative perceptions are driven by increasing pessimism among Democrats.\u00a0 A year ago, 37% of Democrats and 68% of Republicans described the national economy as poor. In the latest survey, 67% of Democrats say national economy is poor, and 90% of Republicans say the same.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The abysmal numbers for Biden come as a separate survey from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/news.gallup.com\/poll\/394202\/record-low-extremely-proud-american.aspx\">Gallup<\/a>\u00a0found that a record low number of Americans considered themselves \u201cextremely proud\u201d to be an American.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe 38% of U.S. adults who say they are \u2018extremely proud\u2019 to be American is the lowest in Gallup\u2019s trend, which began in 2001,\u201d the report said. \u201cRepublicans\u2019 pride in being American has consistently outpaced Democrats\u2019 and independents\u2019 since 2001 and does so today. However, Republicans\u2019 extreme national pride (58%) is now at its lowest point in the trend.
