Liz Cheney\u2019s career has two options: Try to win the GOP Wyoming primary with Democrat votes or flee to a plum job in the corrupt corporate media.<\/p>\n<p>Cheney strayed far from her conservative party when she accepted Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi\u2019s appointment to be vice chair of the Jan. 6 Committee, which has embarrassed itself with hearsay that would be inadmissible in court, <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/06\/30\/the-media-should-save-the-star-witness-label-for-people-who-actually-witnessed-things\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">star witnesses that didn\u2019t actually witness anything<\/a>, and openly contradicted lies. After that, the Wyoming Republican Party <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/state-watch\/581655-wyoming-gop-votes-to-no-longer-recognize-cheney-as-a-republican\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">voted to no longer recognize Cheney<\/a> as a member of the party, while Cheney has <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/02\/09\/liz-cheney-snubs-voters-to-mingle-with-reporters-instead-calling-constituents-crazies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">snubbed<\/a> her constituents in favor of reporters and <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/04\/20\/liz-cheney-rakes-in-more-money-from-northern-virginia-than-from-her-home-state-wyoming\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hauled<\/a> in more fundraising cash from Northern Virginia than from her home state.<\/p>\n<p>Cheney has little chance of winning her GOP primary this August unless she can get enough Democrats to vote in it. Harriet Hageman, her Republican opponent, is towering over Cheney by 59 votes to 6 in a Wyoming straw poll, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/trib.com\/news\/state-and-regional\/govt-and-politics\/harriet-hageman-wins-big-in-congressional-straw-poll-held-by-wyoming-gop-activists\/article_5ee6224a-5705-5250-b6a3-f41510ed9bce.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Casper Star Tribune<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>While this secret-ballot straw poll was conducted among state party leadership, Hageman is also dominating in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/22056168-wyoming-poll\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Wyoming poll of Republican voters<\/a> obtained by NBC News. Only a meager 26 percent support Cheney while Hageman has 58 percent of her party\u2019s vote. On the flip side, only 29 percent of Republicans surveyed said they don\u2019t approve of Hageman while Cheney drags along with a 73 percent disapproval rate. <\/p>\n<p>Based on these numbers, a victory in Wyoming is virtually impossible for Cheney unless she can sway Democrat voters to switch parties and vote her in. While not an open primary state, Wyoming does allow for <a href=\"https:\/\/ballotpedia.org\/Primary_elections_in_Wyoming\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">voters to switch political party affiliations on the day of voting<\/a>, and Cheney has already <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/06\/23\/liz-cheney-is-begging-democrats-to-save-her-career-in-upcoming-wyoming-primary\/\">begged<\/a> Democratic voters to save her career and even mailed them instructions on how to do so.<\/p>\n<p>Democrats hopping party lines to influence a Republican primary is not unheard of. Approximately <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/democratic-crossover-helped-trump-foe-raffensberger-win-renomination-in-georgia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">37,000 voters<\/a> who voted in the Democratic party in 2020 voted Republican this year to help secure Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger\u2019s win in the Georgia primary against Trump-backed Rep. Jody Hice. Only 27,000 votes prevented the race from going to a runoff. <\/p>\n<p>But while Georgia had enough party-hopping Democrats to give Raffensperger the election, Wyoming likely doesn\u2019t. <\/p>\n<p>As of July 1, the current number of registered Democrat voters to Republicans is only <a href=\"https:\/\/sos.wyo.gov\/Elections\/Docs\/VRStats\/2022\/22JulyVR_stats.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">43,285 to 200,579<\/a>. So even if Cheney were to gather half of the Democrat votes, the majority of GOP support that Hageman is projected to hold will still crush Cheney\u2019s bid to stay on Capitol Hill. <\/p>\n<p>Now that she\u2019s alienated her voters, there is one job Cheney could likely land with ease: a cushy commentator role at CNN, MSNBC, or another corporate media spin machine.
