Wade<\/em> may have inspired dozens of protests, angry op-eds, and heated cable news debates \u2014 but a new poll released Tuesday suggests that one of the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/im-going-to-do-everything-in-my-power-biden-calls-to-suspend-the-filibuster-and-nationalize-abortion-law\/\">Democrats\u2019 pet issues<\/a> won\u2019t even move the needle for voters come November.<\/p>\n<p>According to the most recent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/polling-institute\/reports\/monmouthpoll_us_070522\/\">Monmouth University poll<\/a>, only 5% of those interviewed said that abortion was an important issue to them ahead of the midterm elections. Economic issues drove most of the responses from the 978 adults polled between June 23 and June 27, and some 6% said they didn\u2019t know which issue was most important.<\/p>\n<p>RealClearPolitics Executive Editor and co-founder Tom Bevan shared some of the data, tweeting, \u201cMore from Monmouth: biggest concern facing families right now: inflation + gas + economy + bills\/groceries = 63%. Next highest: \u2018Don\u2019t know\u2019 @ 6%, \u2018Other\u2019 and Abortion tied @ 5%, All the rest <3%><\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">More from Monmouth: biggest concern facing families right now: inflation + gas + economy + bills\/groceries = 63%.<\/p>\n<p>Next highest: <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Don&#8217;t Know&#8221; @ 6%<br \/>&#8220;Other&#8221; and Abortion tied @ 5%<br \/>All the rest < 3% <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/TWJPf1SwGp\">pic.twitter.com\/TWJPf1SwGp<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Tom Bevan (@TomBevanRCP) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TomBevanRCP\/status\/1544343379189841922?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 5, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Nearly half of those polled cited either inflation (33%) or gas prices (15%) as their primary concern \u2014 and another 15% cited the overall economy (9%) or regular household bills and grocery costs (6%) as primary issues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAdd in healthcare costs, job security\/unemployment, college tuition\/school costs, and housing\/mortgage\/rent and economic-related issues hit 73%,\u201d Bevan <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TomBevanRCP\/status\/1544346803537031169\">added<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Abortion, despite the media attention the issue has received since first the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/oops-scotus-draft-leak-may-drive-more-republicans-to-voting-booths-poll-says\/\">early opinion draft leak<\/a> and then the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/dobbs-case-adds-new-hope-to-2022-march-for-life\/\">decision<\/a> in\u00a0<em>Dobbs v. Jackson Women\u2019s Health\u00a0<\/em>Organization \u2014 which resulted in a <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/were-in-a-theocracy-right-now-joy-behar-joins-the-meltdown-over-roe-v-wade\/\">5-4 decision to overturn<\/a>\u00a0<em>Roe v. Wade<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Planned Parenthood v. Casey<\/em> \u2014 hardly tipped the scales. Only 5% said it was an important issue, with the issue ranking slightly higher (9%) among only the Democrats polled.<\/p>\n<p>A majority of voters appeared to blame the White House \u2014 or at least Washington, D.C. \u2014 for their economic woes as well. Over half (57%) said that \u201cthe actions of the federal government over the past six months have hurt their family when it comes to their most important concern,\u201d and only 8% said that the federal government had helped them. A third (34%) said the federal government had not impacted their lives.<\/p>\n<p>Over half (54%) also said that President Biden\u2019s policies have done nothing to help the middle class \u2014 a nearly 20 point jump from the 36% who said this a year ago \u2014 and only 7% believe Biden has helped the middle class \u201ca lot.\u201d Over half (52%) said that Biden\u2019s policies had not helped poor families either.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the issues driving voters to \u2014 or away from \u2014 the polls in November\u2019s midterms, the Monmouth poll offered several other key takeaways as well.<\/p>\n<p>First, not only did President Joe Biden score a <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/slidin-biden-two-polls-show-bidens-approval-collapsing-into-the-mid-30s\/\">new low approval rating<\/a> at just 36% \u2014 with 58% disapproving \u2014 but he also marked a full year since his approval rating was last a net positive (48% approved and 44% disapproved in July of 2021).<\/p>\n<p>An overwhelming majority of those polled (88%) said that the United States was heading in the wrong direction, and just 10% said the opposite.<\/p>\n<p><\/3%><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The recent overturning of landmark abortion case\u00a0Roe v.
