Instead, Corden switched briefly to rough-puff mode when he balked at being told to say that the state of the U.S. economy is \u201cstrong.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Corden was preparing to take questions from the White House press corps, conferring with former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki.<\/p>\n<p>Psaki gave Corden a list of word associations to help him deal with the press. \u201cWar with Russia: Bad,\u201d \u201cCDC: Good,\u201d \u201cEconomy: Strong.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Corden replied incredulously: \u201cIs it?\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p><em><strong>Watch below:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n[embedded content]\n<p>Many economists and prominent business leaders are bracing for a deep recession as soaring inflation and out-of-control gas prices continue to crush U.S. families.<\/p>\n<p>As Breitbart New <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2022\/06\/30\/grocery-cart-inflation-jumps-to-highest-in-22-years\/\">reported<\/a>, a\u00a0key measure of inflation showed groceries in May costing American households 11 percent more this year than last year, the biggest annual price gain since December of 1980.
