Carol Miller (R-W.Va.) has led 46 other House Republicans in introducing a congressional resolution aiming to declare June as the \u201cMonth of Life,\u201d in commemoration of the Supreme Court\u2019s recent decision to overturn the 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a mother and grandmother, I know the joy that children bring to a family,\u201d Miller said in a July 1 <a href=\"https:\/\/miller.house.gov\/media\/press-releases\/congresswoman-miller-leads-effort-designate-june-month-life\">statement<\/a> from her office. \u201cAll children, no matter their age, should be cherished, and the Supreme Court\u2019s decision reaffirms that.<\/p>\n<p>She added: \u201cI am thrilled to stand alongside my colleagues to celebrate this historic moment and designate June as the \u2018Month of Life.\u2019 I urge my colleagues to pass this resolution immediately to honor the unborn and stand up for life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Supreme Court <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/supreme-court-strikes-down-roe-v-wade-abortion-precedent_4555931.html\">overturned<\/a> Roe v. Wade on June 24 following a 6\u20133 vote. Justice Samuel Alito, who wrote the court\u2019s majority <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/read-supreme-court-opinion-striking-down-roe-v-wade_4556060.html\">opinion<\/a>, said that \u201cRoe was egregiously wrong from the start,\u201d and, \u201cIt is time to heed the Constitution and return the issue of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-abortion\">abortion<\/a> to the people\u2019s elected representatives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After Roe was returned, judges in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/florida-judge-delays-15-week-abortion-ban-desantis-is-not-surprised_4569994.html\">Florida<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/judge-temporarily-blocks-abortion-ban-in-kentucky-the-latest-of-states-with-trigger-laws-on-hold_4569415.html\">Kentucky<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/louisiana-blocked-from-banning-nearly-all-abortions-despite-supreme-courts-roe-ruling_4561621.html\">Louisiana<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/utah-court-temporarily-allows-abortions-while-trigger-ban-is-challenged_4562339.html\">Utah<\/a>\u00a0blocked abortion restrictions or bans from being enforced. Meanwhile, several states with abortion trigger laws are being <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/pro-abortion-injunctions-attempt-to-delay-abortion-bans_4572217.html\">challenged<\/a>, including Idaho and Oklahoma. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.guttmacher.org\/article\/2021\/10\/26-states-are-certain-or-likely-ban-abortion-without-roe-heres-which-ones-and-why\">According to<\/a> the Guttmacher Institute, as many as 26 states could eventually ban abortions.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/117th-congress\/house-resolution\/1216\/text?q=%7B%22search%22%3A%5B%22abortion%22%2C%22abortion%22%5D%7D&#038;r=3&#038;s=5\">House Resolution 1216<\/a>\u00a0states that the \u201cright to life\u201d is one of the founding principles of the United States and the U.S. Constitution \u201cdoes not include a right to abortion.\u201d It adds that the rights of states are included in the Constitution and \u201cshould be respected and supported.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>What\u2019s more, the resolution emphasizes how \u201cscientific and medical technology has demonstrated repeatedly the humanity of the unborn child.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The resolution also calls out states to \u201cprovide necessary resources to help women and families with<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rep.
