Mike Parson signed a new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-election-law\">election law<\/a> on Wednesday that will require a voter to show a photo ID to vote in the coming general election.<\/p>\n<p>The new law, House Bill 1878, requires voters to show one of the following photo IDs at polling sites: nonexpired Missouri driver\u2019s license, nonexpired state nondriver\u2019s license, other documents issued by the state or federal government with a photo and recent confirmable signature, or photo identification issued by the Missouri National Guard, U.S. Armed Forces, or U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs.<\/p>\n<p>A voter who comes to the polling sites without the required photo ID can cast a provisional ballot with a signature on the ballot envelope and a sworn affidavit.<\/p>\n<p>However, the election judges will mark the ballot envelope to indicate that the voter\u2019s identity was not verified.<\/p>\n<p>The voter can either come back to the polling site with a photo ID on the same day or allow the election authority to determine if the ballot is effective by comparing the voter\u2019s signature with one on file with the election agency.<\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/img.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/uploads\/2020\/05\/28\/Gov.-Mike-Parson-1200x798.jpg\"><\/a> Missouri Gov. John Simmons, a Republican, and passed in the Missouri House and Senate early this year.<\/p>\n<p>It also bans the use of drop boxes to collect absentee ballots, mandates cybersecurity reviews, and prohibits private donations for elections unless it\u2019s personal protective equipment, water, or food for election workers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo absentee ballot shall be delivered through a drop box and no election authority shall establish or use a drop box for the purpose of collecting absentee ballots,\u201d read the text of the legislation (<a href=\"https:\/\/house.mo.gov\/billtracking\/bills221\/hlrbillspdf\/4557S.05T.pdf\">pdf<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>The law will take effect on Aug. 28,<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Missouri Gov.
