Jackson Women\u2019s Health Organization<\/em> \u2014 which resulted in a 5-4 decision <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/were-in-a-theocracy-right-now-joy-behar-joins-the-meltdown-over-roe-v-wade\/\">overturning<\/a> landmark abortion cases\u00a0<em>Roe v. Wade<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Planned Parenthood v. Casey<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>In a video shared via Instagram stories, <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/obama-campaign-manager-dumb-s-aoc-is-doing-could-cost-democrats-the-house\/\">Ocasio-Cortez<\/a> told her followers that it was important to remember that no act of resistance was too small to matter \u2014 and then used her imminent manicure appointment as an example of something she intended to view as a \u201cpersonal act of reclamation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AOC?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@AOC<\/a> says she is getting her nails done as an act of \u201cresistance\u201d post-Dobbs. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/jqFA1PyhJk\">pic.twitter.com\/jqFA1PyhJk<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 John Gage (@johnrobertgage) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/johnrobertgage\/status\/1543021938511171584?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 2, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cHello, everybody. Happy Friday,\u201d Ocasio-Cortez began, removing her sunglasses. \u201cAnd I say \u2018happy\u2019 because joy too can be an act of resistance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUm, I want to talk about personal acts of reclamation,\u201d she continued, going on to argue that the little things she did could be emblematic of the larger picture, of a move to \u201creclaim\u201d lost power and autonomy. \u201cBecause sometimes people will say, \u2018there\u2019s nothing I can do, I can\u2019t do, I feel so powerless.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd there is no act too small that you can engage in and even today, I have a personal errand. I need to redo my nails, and I\u2019ve decided that I\u2019m going to use my new manicure as almost like a personal act of reclamation for me and my story.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The New York Congresswoman went on to say that her home had been fairly strict and conservative when she was growing up, and that she had not been allowed to use red nail polish or red lipstick until she moved out of the house and went to college.<\/p>\n<p>A screenshot taken from a post-manicure video, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitchy.com\/gregp-3534\/2022\/07\/01\/aoc-shares-her-personal-act-of-reclamation-in-response-to-scotus-overturning-roe\/\">posted by Twitchy<\/a>, showed Ocasio-Cortez flashing bright red nails along with the comment, \u201cI\u2019m gonna be a problem now, AS WE SHOULD BE. Now to get a local bite to eat.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ocasio-Cortez has been railing against the Supreme Court\u2019s decision in\u00a0<em>Dobbs<\/em> since it came down last Friday, accusing the court of stripping bodily autonomy away from women.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou sound insecure. As you should be,\u201d she tweeted at Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) as he cheered the end of <em>Roe<\/em> and criticized Democrats who would upend Senate filibuster rules to bring federal abortion provisions back. \u201cYour attempt to seize bodily autonomy from millions of women &#038; LGBT+ people is a stain on our country. I don\u2019t care how long you \u2018worked\u2019 to seize control of people\u2019s bodies. That right belongs to individuals, not you.
