You are going to need it.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. airline industry is in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/aerospace-defense\/us-airline-disruptions-create-summer-travel-chaos-2022-06-29\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">disarray<\/a>. Flight cancellations and delays are on the rise. So are ticket prices. Passengers are understandably outraged, and the chaos is unlikely to abate anytime soon.<\/p>\n<p>Even some left-wing pundits have been wondering what the hell Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg is doing, if anything, to try and rectify the situation.<\/p>\n<p>Matt Stoller, research director at the American Economic Liberties Project, said he got significant pushback in April after <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/matthewstoller\/status\/1516163916505702405\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">calling<\/a> Buttigieg &#8220;an unmitigated catastrophe at the Department of Transportation.&#8221; That is no longer the case.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I got so much crap for pointing out Pete Buttigieg is completely incompetent in his job at the Department of Transportation,&#8221; Stoller <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/matthewstoller\/status\/1542182306739281921\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wrote<\/a> on Wednesday. &#8220;Now that flight cancellations are routine the pushback is minimal.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Ari Rabin-Havt, a Democratic policy adviser, gave voice to the vast majority of Americans who think Buttigieg is a robotic nerd without the necessary qualifications to lead a federal agency, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AriRabinHavt\/status\/1542185675801477123\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">writing<\/a>: &#8220;Who would have thought the mediocre mayor of Indiana\u2019s fourth-largest city would not be a good choice to run the Department of Transportation?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Buttigieg did take action this week,\u00a0announcing a new government transportation initiative. The department will spend $1 billion &#8220;to build racial equity in roads,&#8221; the Associated Press <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/race-and-ethnicity-racial-injustice-transportation-pete-buttigieg-48e09f253781c89359d875f19fc70f9d?utm_medium=AP_Politics&#038;utm_campaign=SocialFlow&#038;utm_source=Twitter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>. The money was allocated as part of last year&#8217;s bipartisan infrastructure bill, which Buttigieg <a href=\"https:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/buttigieg-says-america-highways-racist-084800750.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">touted<\/a>\u00a0as a significant step toward improving the nation&#8217;s &#8220;racist&#8221; highways.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of roads, the Biden administration continues to belittle the American public&#8217;s\u00a0concern over rising gas prices. President Joe Biden on Thursday <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TomBevanRCP\/status\/1542810624866107392\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> hardworking Americans should be prepared to pay nearly $5 per gallon for &#8220;as long as it takes.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>White House adviser Brian Deese doubled down on the president&#8217;s offensive remarks, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/theMRC\/status\/1542895805383806985\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">arguing<\/a> that paying more for gas was necessary for the preservation of the &#8220;Liberal World Order.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Buttigieg and other Democrats have suggested that Americans should stop whining about high gas prices and buy an electric car. In October, the transportation secretary <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/biden-administration\/buttigieg-made-in-mexico\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bragged<\/a> about purchasing a brand new <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/biden-administration\/pete-buttigieg-electric-ford-mustang\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ford Mustang Mach-E<\/a> for his security detail.<\/p>\n<p>The fancy electric vehicle was <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/biden-administration\/buttigieg-made-in-mexico\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">made in Mexico<\/a> to avoid giving jobs to hardworking Americans. It has a nominal starting price of $43,895, but is more likely to be listed for between $60,000 and $80,000. Last month, Ford announced a <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/biden-administration\/pete-buttigieg-electric-ford-mustang\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recall<\/a> of nearly 49,000 Mach-E vehicles due to\u00a0a safety defect that &#8220;could result in a loss of power [while driving], which could cause a crash.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Taking a flight this Fourth of July weekend?
