The death, the latest in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/sudden-death-the-surge-of-nfl-tragedies-and-whats-behind-it\">disturbing string of cases of NFL players dying<\/a>, was a mystery until Friday, when the Baltimore Medical Examiner\u2019s Office released the cause.<\/p>\n<p>Ferguson\u2019s death was caused by \u201cthe combined effects of fentanyl and cocaine,\u201d the autopsy concluded.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Baltimore Ravens pass rusher Jaylon Ferguson died due to &#8220;the combined effects of fentanyl and cocaine,&#8221; officials announced on Friday. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/tHlvGDvh04\">https:\/\/t.co\/tHlvGDvh04<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 TMZ (@TMZ) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TMZ\/status\/1542905571451486211?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 1, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The team declined to comment on the latest development when reached by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thebaltimorebanner.com\/sports\/ravens-nfl\/autopsy-finds-ravens-linebacker-jaylon-ferguson-died-of-fentanyl-cocaine-S36SCYHXQNCMTFEZTVLEMBHXUU\/?utm_campaign=TheBaltimoreBanner\">The Baltimore Banner<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur priority is focused on the man Jaylon was and the positive impact he made on so many as a father, son, fianc\u00e9, friend and teammate,\u201d the team said in a statement. \u201cIt would be inappropriate for us to comment further while we continue to support his family and teammates, who are mourning the tragic loss of a loved one and will celebrate his life tomorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"TextComponent__StyledText-em008c-0 iFJpgu body-paragraph\">Safarrah Lawson, the NFL player\u2019s agent, declined to comment Friday as well.<\/p>\n<p class=\"TextComponent__StyledText-em008c-0 iFJpgu body-paragraph\">Family and friends of the 6-foot, 5-inch, 270-pound athlete were set to gather in Louisiana Saturday to celebrate his life. He had reportedly been battling depression after the recent death of his grandmother and a fire at his home in Owings Mills, a friend who found his body told police.<\/p>\n<p class=\"TextComponent__StyledText-em008c-0 iFJpgu body-paragraph\">Ferguson\u2019s family started an online drive to raise money for his three children and fianc\u00e9e Doni Smith after the fire.<\/p>\n<p class=\"TextComponent__StyledText-em008c-0 iFJpgu body-paragraph\">\u201cTo give you insight on the type of father he was he desperately tried to put out the fire in order to save his children\u2019s possessions to the point where his own toes were burned in the process,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gofundme.com\/f\/support-for-jaylon-fergusons-children?utm_campaign=p_cp+share-sheet&#038;utm_medium=copy_link_all&#038;utm_source=customer&#038;mibextid=dp3N4g&#038;fs=e&#038;s=cl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to the fundraiser page.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"TextComponent__StyledText-em008c-0 iFJpgu body-paragraph\">\u201cJaylon was a loving father, son, brother, fianc\u00e9e and an exception athlete. His kindness, big heart and infectious personality will be missed by so many, but his legacy will continue,\u201d his family wrote on Instagram.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier last month, the NFL world was stunned by the death of Marion Barber, who was just 38 years old.
