I am employing this awkward and impossible multiple-naming style because\u00a0it is now apparently mandatory \u2014 and probably doing it wrong, nonetheless, as \u201cyou\u2019re doing it\u00a0wrong\u201d is the whole point of what has been made mandatory \u2014 but also to make a point.<\/p>\n<p>I have essentially been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/twitter-suspends-jordan-peterson-after-he-tweets-ellen-page-just-had-her-breasts-removed\">banned from Twitter<\/a> as a consequence. I say banned, although\u00a0technically <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MikhailaFuller\/status\/1541946666567323649?s=20&#038;t=nlfFmbtxQz9oDC-VIzbWqw\">I have been suspended<\/a>. But the suspension will not be lifted unless I delete the\u00a0\u201chateful\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/social-media\">tweet<\/a> in question, and I would rather die than do that. And hopefully it will not come\u00a0to that, although who the hell knows in these increasingly strange days?<\/p>\n<p>What was it that I said that caused such a fuss? And, even more importantly, and complexly,\u00a0what exactly was it that I said that resulted in the ban? Here is the tweet in question:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRemember when Pride was a sin? And <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/nypost\/status\/1539705413754552320?s=20&#038;t=zXVI1NllRQ-AgBmd56cWcQ\">Ellen Page just had her breasts removed<\/a> by a criminal\u00a0physician.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The response from Twitter:<\/p>\n<p><em>Violating our rules against hateful conduct. You may not promote violence against, threaten, or\u00a0harass other people on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, gender,\u00a0gender identity, religious affiliation, age, disability or serious disease.\u00a0By clicking Delete, you acknowledge that your Tweet violated the Twitter Rules.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>If you think we\u2019ve made a mistake, submit an appeal to us. Please note that should you do so,\u00a0your account will remain locked while we review your appeal<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s take this apart. First, it is clearly the case that I did not \u201cpromote violence against\u201d or\u00a0\u201cthreaten\u201d anyone with my missive. So that leaves the arguably lesser sin of \u201charass.\u201d Let\u2019s\u00a0assume that was the crime, and, further, harassment on the basis of \u201cgender identity.\u201d Since\u00a0Twitter did not do me the favor of actually specifying my crime, we unfortunately have to guess\u00a0at why this has occurred \u2014 and that\u2019s actually a big problem in and of itself, and also indicative\u00a0of the utter carelessness of the Twitter organization with regard to the propriety of its own\u00a0censorial actions. I should at least know exactly what I did wrong if I am required to\u00a0\u201cacknowledge that\u201d my \u201cTweet violated the Twitter Rules.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/watch\/jordan-peterson\">CLICK TO READ MORE DR. Because such things matter when the accusations start flying.<\/p>\n<p>So what did I say that might constitute harassment? Many things, hypothetically. Let\u2019s begin\u00a0with \u201cRemember when pride was a sin?\u201d Although that is merely a factual statement because\u00a0under the old rules, applicable even a decade ago, pride was a sin, and had been recognized as\u00a0perhaps the cardinal sin for thousands of years previously. It still might be regarded as\u00a0unacceptable to the authoritarian moralists who now insist, for example, that we celebrate\u00a0Pride Month (not hour or day or week, but month) and who have literally called it PRIDE\u00a0MONTH instead of LGBT+ Month. I don\u2019t regard PRIDE as a virtue; it has been classically\u00a0regarded as a sin.<\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t see sexual orientation or sexual desire of any sort as something to\u00a0celebrate or to take PRIDE in, and what I said was merely a fact. It\u2019s possible that I hurt\u00a0someone\u2019s feelings because I pointed out that PRIDE goes before, for example, a fall, but I don\u2019t\u00a0care about that, would do it again, and also consider it my duty to warn those who are about to\u00a0fall into a pit that the path they are on leads suddenly down hill. But that was probably NOT the\u00a0reason that I was banned from Twitter \u2014 although, as I said, I am in the position of having to\u00a0guess.<\/p>\n<p>Next phrase to interrogate: \u201cAnd Ellen Page\u2026\u201d Now, why did I stop there? Because, in all\u00a0likelihood, it was this seemingly innocuous phrase, including the name of a well-known actress\u00a0(there, I\u2019m in trouble again), that likely resulted in my ban. I committed the fatal crime of what\u00a0has come to be known in the appalling censorial terminology of the insane activists as \u201cdead-naming.\u201d That\u2019s the act of referring to someone who has \u201ctransitioned\u201d (another hated piece of\u00a0jargon and slogan) by the name, and by inference the gender (really \u201csex\u201d) that everyone knew\u00a0them by previously \u2014 and in the case of Ellen\/Elliot, that millions of people recognized and\u00a0knew. So I should have called him\/her\/they Elliot instead of Ellen, although, as we will discover,\u00a0that would have made it impossible for me to say what I wanted to and need to say in the\u00a0remaining phrases. Not that such a problem would bother those who are objecting to my\u00a0speech in the first place.<\/p>\n<p>The next phrase is \u201cjust had her breasts removed.\u201d This bit suffers from a very similar problem. I\u00a0employed the forbidden pronoun \u201cher\u201d when Elliot is now to be regarded as a \u201che,\u201d or else.
