Annette Benning.<\/p>\n<p>And now, Jennifer Lopez.<\/p>\n<p>This hodgepodge list of celebrities all has something significant in common: each is raising non-binary or transgender children.<\/p>\n<p>Outside of this group, there is a whole community of Hollywood elites who are choosing a progressive, non-gendered approach to parenting.<\/p>\n<p>Most recently, Jennifer Lopez made <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/jennifer-lopez-uses-they-them-pronouns-to-introduce-daughter-for-performance-with-rainbow-colored-mic\">headlines<\/a> when she brought her 14-year-old daughter, Emme, out to sing a duet at the LA Dodgers Foundation Gala and introduced her using gender-neutral they\/them pronouns. The internet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buzzfeed.com\/natashajokic1\/jennifer-lopez-emme-performance-they-pronouns\">erupted in support<\/a> of Lopez\u2019s progressive parenting as she helped Emme come out as non-binary on the world\u2019s stage.<\/p>\n<p>I was immediately transported back to my childhood. My brothers and I won the lottery with a mother who would walk through fire for us and actively sought out opportunities to support our interests and unique quirks, but she was no JLo. She didn\u2019t enable delusions.<\/p>\n<p>By all standards, my mother was strict. Any independence we had was earned through mutual trust and respect. She was a parent first and a friend second. Up until recent years, I would\u2019ve thought that this parenting style was the norm.<\/p>\n<p>But not in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Today, there is a dangerous trend of parents blindly going along with their children\u2019s every whim and demanding that the rest of the world follow suit. These parents are quick to lean into progressive gender theory and affirm their children \u2014 of all ages \u2014 as the opposite sex, or in some cases, no sex at all.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I believe that, on the surface, many of these parents are simply misguided and have been convinced that this is the most loving and supportive path to take, even though science <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heritage.org\/gender\/commentary\/transitioning-procedures-dont-help-mental-health-largest-dataset-shows\">suggests<\/a> that it\u2019s not.<\/p>\n<p>However, I think most of these parents are deeply fueled by fear \u2014 the fear of getting canceled by the progressive mob, the fear of their children lashing out, and the fear of the government coming after them.<\/p>\n<p>While that may seem like a significant statement, it\u2019s not off base.<\/p>\n<p>On a state level, many governors, like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/desantis-says-hed-support-a-law-banning-gender-transition-surgeries-on-children-there-should-be-additional-protections\">Ron DeSantis (R-FL)<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/alabama-law-criminalizing-transgender-health-care-for-minors-goes-into-effect\">Kay Ivey (R-AL)<\/a>, are taking powerful steps to protect parental rights and protect minors from gender reassignment procedures, but that is far from the case in more progressive states.<\/p>\n<p>In California, legislators are working to pass <a href=\"https:\/\/openstates.org\/ca\/bills\/20212022\/SB107\/\">Senate Bill 107<\/a> which would turn the state into a transgender sanctuary for minors seeking gender reassignment and \u201cauthorize a court to take temporary jurisdiction because a child has been unable to obtain gender-affirming health care.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>You read that correctly. Legislators want the state to be able to take custody of your children if you do not affirm their social-contagion-fueled transgender feelings with puberty blockers and surgeries.\u00a0<\/p>\n[embedded content]\n<p>Shockingly and sadly, this isn\u2019t new. Individual <a href=\"https:\/\/www.courthousenews.com\/father-who-lost-custody-of-trans-child-runs-for-texas-house-to-outlaw-child-gender-reassignments\/\">cases<\/a> have been popping up around the United States for years. In Canada, laws already exist that \u201c[prevent] parents from challenging a child\u2019s same-sex orientation, or with identification not with the gender that he or she was born, but rather the opposite one,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/familyllb.com\/2018\/02\/19\/parents-lose-custody-for-failing-to-respect-teenagers-wish-to-transgender\/\">according to<\/a> Family LLB in Ontario.<\/p>\n<p>This might not be far off for Americans.<\/p>\n<p>Just last Wednesday, President Biden announced a new executive order aimed at the GOP\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ABC\/status\/1537175566989656065?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1537175566989656065%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&#038;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.nationalreview.com%2Fnews%2Fbiden-pride-month-speech-blasts-ultra-maga-agenda-attacking-families%2F\">\u201cUltra-MAGA agenda,\u201d<\/a> which he accused of targeting families and harming transgender children.<\/p>\n<p>This executive order <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2022\/06\/15\/fact-sheet-president-biden-to-sign-historic-executive-order-advancing-lgbtqi-equality-during-pride-month\/\">directs<\/a> the Department of Health and Human Services to do everything in its power to protect LGBTQ+ children\u2019s access to \u201cgender-affirming health care\u201d and asks the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and other departments to begin cracking down on therapeutic practices that attempt to \u201csuppress or change the sexual orientation or gender identity of LGBTQI+ people,\u201d which he defines as \u201cconversion therapy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But here\u2019s the thing, conversion therapy hasn\u2019t been used by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/2022\/06\/bidens-repackaged-conversion-therapy\/\">American Psychiatry Association since 1973<\/a>, so what is Biden vaguely asking the FTC to police? If a child goes to their therapist with concerns about gender, will their psychologist have to affirm these feelings for fear of a conversion therapy accusation?<\/p>\n<p>We are living in a society that is so afraid of a loud, extremist minority that people are willing to roll over and allow \u2014 or even worse, encourage \u2014 irreversible damage to be done to their children.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, it was reasonable for HBO talk show host and comedian <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/billmaher\/status\/1527887977845649408?s=20&#038;t=HGhhfc5Tcvn8FwVDtHpRfw\">Bill Maher<\/a> to question why the spike in transgender youth is regional, saying\u00a0 \u201cEither Ohio is shaming them or California is creating them.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a simplistic statement but it rings true. In the most progressive places, the people who are supposed to protect children are the ones enabling and supporting this dangerous, experimental trend.<\/p>\n<p>Whether it is related to gender or not, parents, therapists, and teachers are not there to affirm a child\u2019s every impulse and fantasy. This does nothing but harm young people and makes them wholly unprepared for the harsh realities of the adult world.<\/p>\n<p>And considering the astounding number of Gen Z members who are struggling with mental illness or gender confusion in<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Charlize Theron.
