Michigan lawmakers are also reportedly considering a new workgroup to develop a slate of bills that will address the \u201coversexualization\u201d of children, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgemi.com\/michigan-government\/michigan-republicans-want-penalties-school-drag-shows-cant-cite-example\">according<\/a> to Bridge Michigan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re here to fight the culture war,\u201d Dixon said at a Thursday press conference introducing the legislation.<\/p>\n<p>The move follows a Dixon campaign <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/michigan-gop-gubernatorial-candidate-tudor-dixon-ill-criminalize-involving-children-in-drag-shows\">promise<\/a> that, if elected governor, she would pursue criminalizing \u201cadults who involve children in drag shows,\u201d The Daily Wire previously reported.<\/p>\n<p>The gubernatorial candidate pointed to recent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/a-drag-queen-for-every-school-michigan-ag-makes-startling-statements-on-drag-queens-later-claims-she-was-just-joking\">comments<\/a> made by Michigan Attorney General <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/dana-nessel\">Dana Nessel<\/a> (D) on drag queens as a reason for pursuing legislation targeting drag shows in public schools.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, Nessel was speaking at a civil rights conference in Lansing when she said, \u201cDrag queens make everything better. Drag queens are fun,\u201d before adding, \u201cA drag queen for every school.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Later, Nessel claimed the comment was made \u201cin jest,\u201d trying to make the point that concerns with children being exposed to drag queens is a \u201cfake issue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During Thursday\u2019s press conference, Dixon acknowledged that Nessel claimed she was joking, but said she and Michigan Republicans take her comments \u201cas a trial balloon.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The new bill\u2019s announcement continues a squabble between the attorney general and GOP gubernatorial candidate. Immediately following Nessel\u2019s comments, Dixon criticized her on Twitter. \u201cAttorney General Dana Nessel \u2018proudly\u2019 announced she is coming for our kids,\u201d Dixon accused. \u201cWhen I am governor, schools will answer to local parents, not progressive activists, drag queens, and trans-supremacists. The days of radical activist politicians sexualizing our kids are over.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nessel hit back at Dixon, calling her tweet a \u201chumorless take,\u201d and criticizing one of her supporters, former Trump Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the most humorless take imaginable on a comment made in jest,\u201d Nessel wrote. \u201cI expect more from the star of Buddy BeBop vs the Living Dead. Your benefactor, Betsy DeVos, has been a greater threat to school children in Michigan than drag queens have ever been.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dixon joined state Reps.
