That was very surprising.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUSC and UCLA have grant of rights that are tied to the current Pac-12 television contract, which expires after the 2023 football season and 2023-24 school year,\u201d ESPN noted. Thus the schools could enter the Big 10 for the 2024-25 season while suffering no financial penalties.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUSA Today\u2018s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/sports\/ncaaf\/2022\/05\/20\/pac-12-big-ten-big-12-revenue-fell-pandemic\/9855686002\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Steve Berkowitz<\/a> also wrote in May how the most recent payouts to the Pac-12 member schools, which fell from $33.6 million in 2020 to $19.8 million in 2021, \u2018were the lowest among the Power Five by a significant margin,\u2019\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/bleacherreport.com\/articles\/10040548-usc-ucla-reportedly-planning-to-leave-pac-12-for-big-ten-by-2024\">Bleacher Report<\/a> noted.<\/p>\n<p>Conference revenue projections for later in the decade estimate the SEC and Big Ten reaping roughly double of certain other Power 5 leagues. \u201cThose financial pressures left USC and UCLA with the choice of bullying the Pac-12 for unequal revenue shares or going elsewhere and having a seat at the table for the long-term,\u201d ESPN noted.<\/p>\n<p>USC has won the Pac-10 football championship a whopping 37 times; UCLA and Washington are tied for second with 17 championships.
