Wade<\/em> and <em>Planned Parenthood v. Casey<\/em>\u00a0in a ruling handed down on Friday, June 24. The poll asked a range of questions about abortion as well as the High Court\u2019s ruling on the issue.<\/p>\n<p>When asked, \u201cOn the subject of abortion, at what point in a pregnancy do you think abortions should be banned?\u201d 54% of respondents said that abortion should be banned after the first trimester or sooner. Twenty-eight percent said that it should never be banned, 7% said that it should be banned after the second trimester, and 12% said that it should be banned after 15 weeks.<\/p>\n<p>The same poll also found that 69% of U.S. adults believe that abortion should either be banned outright or have some restrictions and limitations. Thirty-one percent said that \u201cabortion should always be legal. There should be no restrictions on abortion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The poll also asked, \u201cDo you approve or disapprove of the Supreme Court\u2019s ruling that there is no constitutional right to an abortion?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A plurality of voters, 49% said they somewhat or strongly disapprove of the decision while 42% said they somewhat or strongly approved. Eight percent said they were not sure.<\/p>\n<p>Yet, when asked, \u201cShould abortion laws be decided nationally or left to the states?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Just 40% said it should be decided nationally, 45% said it should be left to the states, and 15% said they were not sure.<\/p>\n<p>Just a day after the poll was released, President Joe Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/im-going-to-do-everything-in-my-power-biden-calls-to-suspend-the-filibuster-and-nationalize-abortion-law\">announced<\/a> that he would support nixing the <a href=\"http:\/\/dailywire.com\/topic\/filibuster\">filibuster<\/a>\u00a0to pass nationwide\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/dailywire.com\/topic\/abortion\">abortion<\/a>\u00a0laws through the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/u-s-senate\">Senate<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have to codify\u00a0Roe v. Wade\u00a0in the law, and the way to do that is to make sure the Congress votes to do that,\u201d Biden\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/06\/30\/world\/europe\/biden-nato-jan-6.html\">said<\/a>\u00a0at a news conference in Europe. \u201cAnd if the filibuster gets in the way, it\u2019s like voting rights, we provide an exception for this, or an exception to the filibuster for this action.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is a mistake, in my view, for the Supreme Court to do what it did,\u201d Biden continued. \u201cI feel extremely strongly that I\u2019m going to do everything in my power, which I legally can do in terms of executive orders, as well as push the Congress and the public.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden also accused the High Court of \u201cdestabilizing\u201d the country with its decision.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe one thing that has been destabilizing is the outrageous behavior of the Supreme Court of the United States and overruling, not only <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em>, but essentially challenging the right to privacy,\u201d Biden told one reporter. \u201cWe\u2019ve been a leader in the world in terms of personal rights, and privacy rights, and it is a mistake, in my view, for the Supreme Court to do what it did.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A new poll from The Economist\/YouGov reports that the majority of adults in the United States think that abortion should be banned after the first trimester.
