Wade.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe foremost thing we should do is make it clear how outrageous this decision was,\u201d Biden said during remarks in Spain on Thursday. \u201cI believe we have to codify Roe v. Wade in the law, and the way to do that is to make sure that Congress votes to do that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That move drew a rebuke from Republicans, namely McConnell who said Biden\u2019s claim was \u201cunmerited and dangerous.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAttacking a core American institution like the Supreme Court from the world stage is below the dignity of the president,\u201d McConnell told reporters. \u201cHe\u2019s upset that the court said the people, through their elected representatives, will have a say on abortion policy. That does not destabilize democracy\u2014it affirms it. By contrast, it is behavior like the president\u2019s that undermines equal justice and the rule of law.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>McConnell was the majority leader when three of then-President Donald Trump\u2019s Supreme Court nominees were confirmed by the Senate: Justices Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett. The three were instrumental in striking down Roe v. Wade last week.<\/p>\n<p>And McConnell was the majority leader when the Senate blocked then-President Barack Obama\u2019s attempt to nominate Merrick Garland, who is now the attorney general, to the Supreme Court after Justice Antonin Scalia\u2019s death.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s the single-most consequential decision I\u2019ve made in my public career,\u201d McConnell told Bloomberg on Wednesday of blocking Garland from the court.
