At the NATO summit in Madrid, the Bloc\u2019s leaders labeled Moscow as top concern for the alliance and they also criticized Beijing\u2019s increasing assertiveness on the world stage.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>\u201cChina is not our adversary, but we must be clear eyed about the serious challenges it represents,\u201d noted the Secretary General.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The challenges we face are truly global. We must continue to stand together with like-minded partners around the world to protect our values, our freedom and promote peace and prosperity. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/NATOSummit?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#NATOSummit<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/kkAyGKFyoP\">pic.twitter.com\/kkAyGKFyoP<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 NATO (@NATO) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NATO\/status\/1542170478453874689?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 29, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Stoltenberg also unveiled a new strategic concept on China. The organization is concerned about Beijing\u2019s strategic investments around the globe and its military operations in the South China Sea.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>\u201cChina is substantially building up its military forces, including nuclear weapons, bullying its neighbors and threatening Taiwan, investing heavily in critical infrastructure, including in allied countries,\u201d Stoltenberg explained.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Military officials from Australia, Japan, New Zealand and South Korea also attended the meeting in Madrid, in turn, drawing criticism from China.
