Wade being overturned is so important that I feel compelled to add my voice to the discussion.<\/p>\n<p>As many of you know, for the majority of my life, I was pro-choice, but I\u2019m now pro-life. These are the five reasons why.<\/p>\n<p>Women Under Duress<\/p>\n<p>Over the course of my life, I\u2019ve seen firsthand that most women get abortions not because it\u2019s \u201ctheir choice,\u201d but because they are under duress or because they are fearful. This is one reason I\u2019m no longer pro-choice.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>My introduction to the topic of abortion came when I was about ten years old and a cousin of mine became pregnant. Despite how young she was \u2014 about fifteen or sixteen \u2014 she wanted to keep her child. But her family said no. In fact, her family was so determined to convince her to abort her child that they arrived to meet face to face with her and hammer into her mind that having the baby would ruin her life. There were a lot of tears \u2014 because she wanted her child. Ultimately, though, she gave in to the pressure.<\/p>\n<p>My second introduction to the topic of abortion came when I was just entering high school. Another cousin of mine became pregnant. She wasn\u2019t a teenager and she knew she wanted to keep her son, but a boyfriend didn\u2019t want her to keep him. That boyfriend put a lot of pressure on her to have an abortion, and it escalated to the point that he broke into her home, threatening her, and trying to physically harm her to compel her to get the procedure.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve known six more women since who have gotten an abortion, and it\u2019s always the same scenario. Moms are upset. Parents are upset. Your friends tell you that your whole life is going to be ruined. Your boyfriend tells you that you\u2019re going to ruin his life. Women aren\u2019t \u201cexercising their rights,\u201d they are operating under duress. It\u2019s a game of peer pressure.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The tragic reality is far from all those media depictions pretending that women are skipping into the clinic by their own free will, empowered, flowery, and leaving feeling great about ending the life of their child. No, that\u2019s not what\u2019s happening. You know that. I know that.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The media is lying to you, celebrities are lying to you. They\u2019re treating the issue of abortion like the cigarette campaign back in the \u201960s. \u201cOh how cool, getting an abortion!\u201d \u201cMy body, my choice!\u201d These are forms of propaganda. They are lies. The truth is that abortions harm people. They harm women, physically and spiritually.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Call Abortion What It Is<\/p>\n<p>Another reason I\u2019ve rejected my former pro-choice stance is that, at this point, we\u2019re no longer debating abortion anymore. I was speaking to my husband earlier \u2014 as many of you know, he\u2019s from the United Kingdom \u2014 and it shocks him to see how far women are going: threatening to kill Supreme Court justices, standing outside screaming like they\u2019ve been possessed by a demon.<\/p>\n<p>Take a look at this <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CBedfordDC\/status\/1540472159331573761?s=20&#038;t=6rUsQTEtv7ck4LMpilUAmA\">picture<\/a> from outside the Supreme Court.<\/p>\n<p>You have a woman who\u2019s easily seven, eight, maybe nine months pregnant. And she\u2019s written on her body \u201cnot yet a human.\u201d What is that, if not a demonic possession? What sort of a woman would do that?<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s what we\u2019re talking about in America now. You have people who are saying that women should be allowed to get an abortion up to nine months in the womb.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m nine months pregnant. I\u2019m due to give birth in a week and a half. There are people who believe that I should be able to just stroll into a clinic and have this child removed from me \u2014 this child I feel kicking in my belly every second of the day.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re talking about child sacrifice. In fact, it reminds me of a book that I read about Native Americans, specifically Aztecs and the horrific child and human sacrifices that took place on a mass scale.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Now, we look back at that and we think, \u201cThat sounds so barbaric. That could never happen in society today, it\u2019s 2022.\u201d But in America, there are approximately 890,000 abortions per a year. Now, we\u2019re not building some big temple and sacrificing these children to gods. Instead, we\u2019re doing it for convenience. We\u2019re doing it because \u201cI\u2019m not ready to be a mom,\u201d or \u201cI don\u2019t want to be a father, so get an abortion.\u201d \u201cThis baby will get in the way of my career.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>That seems even worse than what the Aztecs were doing. America is unlike any other country in the world in this regard.
