Gohmert<\/p>\n<p>Just when the wife of one incarcerated Jan. 6 prisoner believed things couldn\u2019t get worse, the\u00a0Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) informed her they are going to suspend all of her husband\u2019s benefits. According to United States Representative Louie Gohmert (R-Texas), \u201cthis is what you have when vindictive leftists get in charge of major parts of the government.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In an unsigned letter from the VA\u2014dated June 13 and appearing to originate from the \u201cDirector Regional Office,\u201d\u2014Angel and Kenneth Harrelson were notified that the administration \u201creceived information from the United States Department of Justice\u201d that Kenneth had been \u201cindicted and charged with Seditious Conspiracy (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.cornell.edu\/uscode\/text\/18\/2384\">18 U.S.C 2384<\/a>).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Page 1 of the unsigned letter received by Angel and Kenneth Harrelson from the \u201cDirector Regional Office\u201d \u201cinforming them that their Veterans Benefits are being suspended due to 38 U.S. Code \u00a7 6105 \u2013 Forfeiture for subversive activities, which requires that an individual be \u201cconvicted\u201d of a listed crime, not \u201cindicted.\u201d (Courtesy of Angel Harrelson)<\/p>\n<p>The letter further noted that: \u201cPursuant to 38 U.S. Code \u00a7 6105(a)\u201d\u2014Forfeiture for subversive activities\u2014\u201dafter receiving notice of an indictment for the above offense\u201d the \u201cVA must suspend payment of gratuitous benefits pending disposition of the criminal proceedings. If convicted, gratuitous benefits are forfeited, automatically, from and after the date of the offense.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cdate of the offense\u201d is Jan. 6, 2021.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBased on the information above,\u201d the VA further informed the Harrelsons that they \u201cpropose to suspend\u201d their \u201ccompensation benefit payments effective September 1, 2022, which is the first day of the month following a 60-day due process period.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you are subsequently acquitted of this charge, payments can be resumed from the date of suspension, if otherwise in<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Just when the wife of one incarcerated Jan. 6 prisoner believed things couldn\u2019t get worse, the\u00a0Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) informed her they are going to suspend all of her husband\u2019s benefits.
