Al Sharpton appeared on MSNBC\u2019s \u201cMorning Joe\u201d with Joe Scarborough on Monday to claim that pro-life Christians have \u201chijacked\u201d the Bible and Jesus.<\/p>\n<p>Sharpton shared the remarks in response to the Supreme Court\u2019s recent ruling to overturn\u00a0<em>Roe v. Wade\u00a0<\/em>and return laws regarding abortion to states.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am incensed and insulted they have hijacked the Bible and Jesus to distort and misquote, well it\u2019s not even a misquote \u2014 create quotes that are not there to justify a right-wing kind of ideology that would take away the rights of women and then scheduled to take other people\u2019s rights,\u201d Sharpton <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbusters.org\/blogs\/nb\/margaret-buckley\/2022\/06\/27\/pastor-scarborough-and-reverend-al-sharpton-give-sermon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told<\/a> Scarborough, according to Newsbusters.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Speaking on the U.S. Supreme Court vote to overturn Roe v. What did you think would happen? Raphael Warnock (D-GA), a black pro-choice pastor elected in 2021. Sharpton <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/al-sharpton-georgia-win-means-no-going-back-to-legal-apartheid\">argued<\/a>\u00a0that the victory signaled the end of \u201clegal apartheid.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHere we have in the state of Georgia, a state deep in the heart of the old Confederacy, a state that voted to elect America\u2019s first black vice-president in November, and a state that just voted to elect the Democratic Party\u2019s first black senator. What does that mean about where this country is after four years of Donald Trump?\u201d MSNBC host Scarborough asked Sharpton in January.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt means that this country has really come back unto showing that we\u2019re not going backwards to the days of legal apartheid or segregation and divisiveness,\u201d Sharpton responded.<\/p>\n<p>MSNBC has also regularly blasted pro-life views. In September, the network hosted civil rights attorney Jill Colleen Jefferson and her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/pro-life-americans-are-like-suicide-bombers-msnbc-guest\">radical comparison<\/a> regarding pro-life Americans.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHaving the right to an abortion is a constitutional right; it\u2019s grounded in the right to privacy that is within the Constitution,\u201d Jefferson wrote.<\/p>\n<p>She later compared those holding a pro-life view to suicide bombers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat it reminds me of, quite honestly, is a suicide bomber \u2014 someone who feels like they have the right and the moral duty to mess up somebody else\u2019s life for the greater good,\u201d Jefferson added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rev.
