The group requested that the OSC investigate whether she violated the Hatch Act after the interview was released.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile she then attempted to backpedal by stating that she was using \u2018Democrats as a substitute\u2019 for certain policies, at bottom she told listeners that they needed to vote for Democrats so that more Democrats would be elected to pass the legislation they wanted,\u201d Hamrick also wrote, according to several <a href=\"https:\/\/www.detroitnews.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2022\/06\/28\/watchdog-office-finds-granholm-violated-hatch-act-dem-remark\/7760938001\/?gnt-cfr=1\">news outlets<\/a>. \u201cHer attempt to backpedal does not change the meaning of her words or undo the fact that she was talking about the Democratic Party throughout her statement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The OSC, which is tasked with investigating possible Hatch Act violations, said that \u201cGranholm has been advised that if in the future she engages in prohibited political activity while employed in a position covered by the Hatch Act, we will consider such activity to be a willful and knowing violation of the law,\u201d reported the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.freep.com\/story\/news\/local\/michigan\/2022\/06\/28\/jennifer-granholm-hatch-act-warning\/7762380001\/\">Detroit Free Press<\/a>.
