He tested positive again on the fourth day, Fauci added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter I finished the five days of Paxlovid, I reverted to negative on an antigen test for three days in a row,\u201d Fauci said. \u201cAnd then on the fourth day, just to be absolutely certain, I tested myself again. I reverted back to positive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Due to his advanced age, Fauci is considered to be in a high-risk age group for developing serious complications from COVID-19, including death or hospitalization.\u00a0 Studies and data have shown that elderly people are at the most risk while children have the lowest risk.<\/p>\n<p>Fauci added that \u201cover the next day or so, I started to feel really poorly, much worse than in the first go around,\u201d adding, \u201cSo, I went back on Paxlovid and right now I am on my fourth day of a five-day course.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The longtime federal employee stated that he\u2019s now feeling better as of Tuesday, but he\u2019s \u201cnot completely without symptoms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> \u2018COVID-19 Rebound\u2019 <\/p>\n<p>In clinical trials, Paxlovid was seen as a drug that showed some promise in preventing hospitalization or death from COVID-19.
