One doctor says he is doing up to a dozen of the operations per week as summer beach season moves into full swing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA lot of people have problems with this issue,\u201d Dr. David Shusterman, a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nyurology.com\/\">New York City urologist<\/a>\u00a0who\u2019s been advertising the procedures with the tagline \u201cRace to the Hamptons, not to the bathroom,\u201d told the outlet. \u201cThey come out to the Hamptons and have to stop four or five times on the way, but can\u2019t find a restroom.\u201d<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I HATE THE HAMPTONS TRAFFIC <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/TtJDkr2G1s\">pic.twitter.com\/TtJDkr2G1s<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Jeff (@wilks5697) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/wilks5697\/status\/1533779210594025473?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 6, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<p>For men, the procedure is officially known as prostate artery embolization. For women, it is dubbed \u201cbladder botox.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Shusterman told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.insider.com\/hamptons-bladder-pae-traffic-urine-botox-2022-6\">Insider<\/a> he\u2019s seen demand for the operation skyrocket this spring as the rich flock to their multi-million-dollar summer homes on the tip of Long Island.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t see them until around May,\u201d he said. \u201cThen all of a sudden, May comes and they care more. When they\u2019re in a car with a bunch of people, they\u2019re embarrassed because they have to go to the bathroom every hour.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The men\u2019s procedure, which shrinks the prostate by restricting blood flow to it, takes about an hour and costs $20,000. For women, the answer to annoying pee breaks involves having a small scope inserted through the urethra to inject botox. It stays effective for six months, Shusterman said, and costs a tenth of what the male solution runs.<\/p>\n<p>A 60-year-old man who got the procedure done weeks ago told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.insider.com\/hamptons-bladder-pae-traffic-urine-botox-2022-6\">Insider<\/a> COVID made traffic to the glamorous getaway worse than ever.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith the pandemic, most of New York just moved out to their Hamptons house,\u201d he said. \u201cThey relocated and it\u2019s caused a lot of traffic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Heading east to his summer home was four hours of agony with no rest stops prior to the operation, he said. But \u201cthere\u2019s no dread now,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019m like a kid.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s an easier and less weird way to handle long trips to the beach, Shusterman acknowledged. Avoid booze and don\u2019t drink too much water.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlcohol is really bad \u2014 it has a direct irritation effect on the bladder,\u201d he said. \u201cDrink plain water. Hydrate, but don\u2019t overhydrate.
