Wade.<\/p>\n<p>Orleans Parish Civil District Court Judge Robin Giarrusso issued a temporary injunction on June 27 after some <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-abortion\">abortion<\/a> clinics filed a lawsuit against the state, according to her order (<a href=\"https:\/\/reproductiverights.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/CIVIL-DISTRICT-COURT-FOR-THE-PARISH-OF-ORLEANS.pdf\">pdf<\/a>).\u00a0Giarrusso scheduled a hearing for the suit on July 8 before the court makes a final ruling on whether the injunction should be upheld, meaning that abortions will remain legal in Louisiana within that time frame.<\/p>\n<p>Louisiana and a dozen other states have \u201ctrigger laws\u201d that were designed to ban or significantly restrict abortions once the Supreme Court overturned the 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling, which determined that women have a constitutional right to obtain the procedure. An <a href=\"https:\/\/www.guttmacher.org\/article\/2021\/10\/26-states-are-certain-or-likely-ban-abortion-without-roe-heres-which-ones-and-why\">analysis says<\/a> that up to 26 states have laws or will pass laws to restrict the procedure, which many religious groups say is murder and immoral.<\/p>\n<p>The Hope Medical Group for Women, one of Louisiana\u2019s three abortion clinics, is one of the plaintiffs in the case. The\u00a0Shreveport-based clinic is arguing that Louisiana\u2019s three trigger law bans violate its due process rights under the state\u2019s constitution and \u201clack constitutionally required safeguards to prevent arbitrary enforcement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Center for Reproductive Rights, a left-wing group that filed the lawsuit on the clinic\u2019s behalf, said abortions are now resuming in the state after Giarrusso\u2019s order.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA public health emergency is about to engulf the nation.
