Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey, which has sent legislative powers for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-abortion\">abortion<\/a> access back to the states.<\/p>\n<p>The two were arrested for the destruction of property, U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) said on <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CapitolPolice\/status\/1540820057705664517\">Twitter<\/a> on June 25. They allegedly threw paint over the fence outside the Supreme Court building.<\/p>\n<p>On June 24, the Supreme Court <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/supreme-court-strikes-down-roe-v-wade-abortion-precedent_4555931.html\">overturned<\/a> Roe v. Wade, a seminal 1973 ruling that largely legalized abortion nationwide, following a 5-4 vote. The court also ruled 6-3 to uphold a Mississippi law that bans abortion after 15 weeks of pregnancy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRoe was egregiously wrong from the start. Its reasoning was exceptionally weak, and the decision has had damaging consequences,\u201d Justice <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-samuel-alito\">Samuel Alito<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/read-supreme-court-opinion-striking-down-roe-v-wade_4556060.html\">wrote in his opinion<\/a>. \u201cAnd far from bringing about a national settlement of the abortion issue, Roe and Casey have enflamed debate and deepened division.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is time to heed the Constitution and return the issue of abortion to the people\u2019s elected representatives,\u201d Alito added.<\/p>\n<p>The ruling also reversed Planned Parenthood v. Casey, the 1992 decision that reaffirmed Roe. The Casey decision had prohibited laws imposing an \u201cundue burden\u201d on a woman\u2019s access to obtain an abortion.<\/p>\n<p>Now, laws pertaining to abortion <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/2-dozen-states-to-restrict-abortions-after-supreme-court-overturns-roe-v-wade_4556299.html\">return to states<\/a>, following the Supreme Court\u2019s decisions.<\/p>\n<p>Soon afterward, pro-abortion protesters <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/pro-abortion-activists-protest-in-cities-burn-american-flag_4557877.html\">began<\/a> to gather in multiple cities, including Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Seattle, and Washington.
