Wade.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-cvs\">CVS<\/a> and Rite Aid <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/cvs-walmart-limit-purchases-of-plan-b-pills-after-surge-in-demand-11656358819\">told<\/a> the Wall Street Journal and other news outlets on Tuesday\u00a0that they will place limits on buying\u00a0Plan B, One-Step, and Aftera medications\u2014which are brand-name products for the drug\u00a0Levonorgestrel. Walmart also said it would place limits on the drugs.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-walgreens\">Walgreens<\/a>\u2019 website initially stated that there would be limits on the drugs as well. The firm later told the WSJ that the restriction was an error. Deliveries of the drugs aren\u2019t available at this time due to demand, a spokesperson told The New York Times.<\/p>\n<p>A Walmart spokesperson said the company is limiting emergency contraception medication purchases to four to six per customer.<\/p>\n<p>The pills\u00a0work by preventing a fertilized egg from attaching to the uterus or by preventing ovulation. They\u2019re sold over the counter without an ID or prescription and differ from abortion pills, which require a prescription and take several weeks to terminate a pregnancy.<\/p>\n<p>After the ruling, some on social media claimed that women should stockpile morning-after pills. Planned Parenthood, one of the leading abortion groups in the United States, issued a statement Monday warning not to stockpile the drugs because they have a short shelf life.<\/p>\n<p>The Supreme Court in a 5\u20134 ruling on June 24 struck down Roe v. Wade, with the majority arguing that only states and legislatures should have the power to enact or restrict abortion. Writing for the majority, Justice Samuel Alito wrote that the Constitution <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/supreme-court-justice-alito-constitution-makes-no-reference-to-abortion_4555878.html\">makes no reference<\/a> to abortion and argued the 1973 landmark decision was flawed from the start.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe end this opinion where we began.
