RIP Nick. We love you. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/vc2Rmu3ypA\">pic.twitter.com\/vc2Rmu3ypA<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Nick Nemeroff (@nicknemeroff) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/nicknemeroff\/status\/1541552222114402310?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 27, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Grand Wave Entertainment, which managed Nemeroff, issued a <a href=\"https:\/\/exclaim.ca\/film\/article\/canadian_comedian_nick_nemeroff_has_died\">statement<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p><em>We have been so proud to watch Nick grow in to one of Canada\u2019s most popular and respected comedians. Truly a devastating loss to the Toronto and Montreal comedy communities, where he developed and perfected his unique performance and delivery style. Nick will be sorely missed, and fondly remembered.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201c<\/strong>I would describe my comedic style as \u2018funny\u2019 \u2026to be more specific I would say I saw someone describe it as aggressively deadpan once and I thought that suited it pretty well,\u201d Nemeroff told the Toronto Guardian in an <a href=\"https:\/\/torontoguardian.com\/2022\/06\/toronto-comedy-nick-nemeroff\/\">interview<\/a> published in mid-June. \u201cMy mom has also called it \u2018cerebral,\u2019 which I think is good.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201c<\/strong>As a kid I really loved Mitch Hedberg and Demetri Martin and then growing up I got really into comics\/shows like Norm Macdonald, Nathan Fielder, Laugh Sabbath, &#038; 30 Rock,\u201d Nemeroff added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy favorite bit I\u2019ve written is a long one where I pretend to read off my hand for like three minutes, but it\u2019s all really hacky crowd-work stuff and at the end, I reveal I don\u2019t have anything except \u2018psych\u2019 written on there,\u201d he stated. \u201cI\u2019m not sure how funny that sounds in print but at the time it helped me express a lot of what I thought was worth making fun of about stand-up comedy, and how little creativity there was in it. I was proud of it because it was different than all my other bits and it met that sweet spot of people who were really into comedy got it, and then people who just like to watch stand-up every now and then also got it but maybe for a different reason.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI also got to do it on Conan which will always be a major life highlight for me,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He concluded, \u201cThere are a lot of great new ways to find comedians but nothing compares to getting to see someone do it live and in the moment.
