Wade<\/a> and demanding that the company cease operations in pro-life states.<\/p>\n<p>The e-commerce giant <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/subsidizing-the-abortion-industry-amazon-to-fund-abortion-tourism-for-its-employees\">said<\/a> last month that it would cover as much as $4,000 in expenses for employees traveling across state lines to procure an <a href=\"http:\/\/dailywire.com\/topic\/abortion\">abortion<\/a>. After the <a href=\"http:\/\/dailywire.com\/topic\/supreme-court\">Supreme Court<\/a> overturned Roe \u2014 the 1973 decision claiming that the Constitution protects abortion \u2014 several other <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/here-are-the-woke-businesses-vowing-to-cover-travel-costs-for-employees-abortion-tourism\">leading corporations<\/a> followed suit.<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/tiktok\">Libs of TikTok<\/a> obtained an <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/libsoftiktok\/status\/1541557369179619331\">open letter<\/a> from hundreds of Amazon employees demanding more action over the loss of their \u201cbasic human rights.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs part of Amazon\u2019s wide-reaching efforts toward a more inclusive and diverse workforce, we believe that Amazon cannot let this recent decision go unanswered,\u201d the letter said. \u201cWe ask Amazon, the world\u2019s best employer, to actively defend against this assault on our liberty.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Among other actions, the authors are requesting that Amazon \u201callow employees of all genders the space and time to grieve, express their frustrations, and protest against this assault on our rights.\u201d In addition, they want the company to \u201cdonate and match donations to bail funds\u201d to help \u201cwomen and pregnant people\u201d seeking abortions in states with protections for pre-born babies.<\/p>\n<p>Amazon would not be the first company to pursue such a policy. Clothing maker Patagonia <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2022\/06\/24\/patagonia-bail-abortion-protests-roe-wade\">told employees<\/a> last week that it would pay bail for those who \u201cpeacefully protest\u201d in response to the Supreme Court\u2019s decision.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond helping women circumvent their state\u2019s laws, the Amazon employees want the company to \u201cexpand remote work options\u201d for those who relocate in response to the decision, \u201caudit and remove product offerings\u201d that \u201cmisrepresent\u201d abortion and \u201cencourage hate speech or violence\u201d toward abortion seekers, and stop donating to political groups that oppose abortion.<\/p>\n<p>The letter also calls for Amazon to \u201ccease operations in states\u201d with pro-life laws. Indeed, several states have introduced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-multiple-states-ban-abortion-after-scotus-ruling\">various penalties<\/a> for those who carry out abortions, even as other states are attempting to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/pro-abortion-states-seek-to-become-safe-havens-for-women-seeking-abortions\">strengthen their abortion laws<\/a> and become \u201csafe havens\u201d for women seeking the procedure.<\/p>\n<p>Though Democrat-run California <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aboutamazon.com\/investing-in-the-u-s\">boasts<\/a> more than 170,000 Amazon employees, Republican-run states Texas and Florida have 95,000 and 59,000 Amazon employees, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>The letter\u2019s authors acknowledge that some of their suggested actions include substantial \u201cbusiness risk\u201d but argue that \u201cthese are unprecedented times.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGiven the attacks on our democracy, and the continued deterioration of our rights, we believe the time to act is now,\u201d the employees concluded.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond the companies taking action to finance employees\u2019 abortion-related travel, major retailers are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/major-retailers-take-action-in-response-to-huge-demand-spike-for-plan-b\">rationing Plan B pills<\/a> in response to an uptick in demand. Plan B stops the release of an egg from the ovary, stops the union of sperm and egg, and could stop fertilized eggs from implanting in the womb, according to the U.S. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/drugs\/postmarket-drug-safety-information-patients-and-providers\/fdas-decision-regarding-plan-b-questions-and-answers\">Food and Drug Administration<\/a> (FDA).<\/p>\n<p>According to a report from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/cvs-walmart-limit-purchases-of-plan-b-pills-after-surge-in-demand-11656358819?mod=business_minor_pos4\">The Wall Street Journal<\/a>, Walmart has \u201csome pills available without limits, but only in cases where they wouldn\u2019t ship until next month\u201d and will be limiting sales to \u201cfour or six\u201d at a time.
