Susan Collins\u2019 claims that Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh misled her during their confirmation processes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor Susan Collins to say these two Supreme Court justices lied to her, it just shows that she did not do her homework and she has a fundamental misunderstanding of the law of precedent,\u201d Mike Davis of the Article III Project said on \u201cAmerica\u2019s Newsroom.\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/24\/expand-scotus-markey-mondaire-jones-jayapal\/\">(RELATED: \u2018What Other Judicial Outrage Must We Endure?\u2019: Dems Call For Expanding SCOTUS After String Of Losses)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>WATCH:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"rumble\" src=\"https:\/\/rumble.com\/embed\/v17ksm7\/?pub=b9929\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Collins <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">told<\/a> The New York Times she felt \u201cmisled\u201d after the Supreme Court <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/24\/roe-v-wade-overturned-supreme-court-dobbs-v-jackson-womens-health\/\">upheld<\/a> a Mississippi law prohibiting most abortions after the 15th week of pregnancy, despite Kavanaugh reportedly assuring the Maine senator in private that Roe was established precedent.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis decision is inconsistent with what Justices Gorsuch and Kavanaugh said in their testimony and their meetings with me, where they both were insistent on the importance of supporting long-standing precedents that the country has relied upon,\u201d Collins also said in a separate statement following the ruling, NBC News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/supreme-court\/collins-manchin-misled-kavanaugh-gorsuch-abortion-rights-rcna35230\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The 6-3 ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women\u2019s Health Organization found that the Constitution did not provide a right to abortion, thereby pushing the matter to the purview of states, effectively ending Roe v. Wade.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey follow the judicial canons, and when they talk about precedent, their job is to follow precedent,\u201d Davis said. \u201cThat includes evaluating precedent under the law of precedent to determine whether the precedent is still good.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSusan Collins needs to cool her rhetoric,\u201d Davis said.<\/p>\n<p>The allegations of lying have prompted some Democrats to <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/26\/aoc-scotus-justices-should-be-impeached\/\">call<\/a> for the impeachment of Gorsuch and Kavanaugh.<\/p>\n<p>Collins and Davis did not immediately respond to requests for comment from The Daily Caller News Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>Content created by The Daily Caller News Foundation is available without charge to any eligible news publisher that can provide a large audience.
